@purr1n to confirm if this is the rev with the HF heater. I really liked that version of the BA.

Oh damn. You've found my Kryptonite! @purr1n lending me his BA many many Changstar moons ago played a huge role in my audio gear addiction. Sure be nice to have this sitting next to my ZDS...

If this is one of the newer revisions, I'd say you should go for it. It's one hell of an amp.

First time I've seen the Balancing Act with 307A tubes. I thought they only came in 2A3s or 300Bs. Nice find!

Ha! Yup. I know the drill. Loan it to you, camp out on your porch to get it back, take your uni-board hostage...

Same honestly, I was pretty confused... thought they only came with 300B/2A3. I messaged the seller, the moment he posted. Still waiting for a reply, hope I can snag this and cancel the Starlett :)

It's an early BA. I can't remember if this one as HF heaters. It's possible that it may not. (TBH, I don't think it's a showstopper). I'll ask Craig on details, HF heater, OPTs, etc.

It's not a showstopper but the later version was more my style.

I just checked the head-fi ad. It was sold there. Sadly, he doesn’t check SBAF DM’s as I thought he does? Or did someone in here get it?

Turns out likely no HF heater. And as such, regular EI OPTs, not the ElectraPrint ones with the partial silver secondaries with teflon jackets.

Sorry for posting in a closed for sale ad, but this is the fourth result from Google when searching "eddie current balancing act specs". I am posting for anyone that happens to stumble upon this ad when searching for more info on the BA. I suspect I may own this exact BA, but absolutely own the first of the nine 307A Balancing Acts that were made in this run. This BA was the very first BA made in the very first production run that Craig did in the first half of 2009. Head-fi claims that this first production run of ten BAs were nine 307A amps and one AD1 amp.

This amp contains the HF heater. Given this was the first prod BA and it has a heater, I wonder if all following BAs had the heater. In my readings, it seems like there are few pre-production BAs in the wild, of which may not have the HF heater.

I am assuming that this has the standard El core transformers and not the partial silver Electraprint transformers. Regardless, this amp sounds fantastic and doubt I'll ever let it go. This BA and my Big Green Egg would be my last possessions I'd ever consider selling if I was ever strapped for cash. The transformers look easy to swap out, so if I can ever get my hands on the right pair of fancier OPTs, I'd love to give it a try.

...My ZDT has upgraded silver OPTs. In the email thread with Craig during the purchase of the ZDT, Craig claims this was the best sounding ZDT he made. This BA sounds a bit better than my ZDT with silver OPTs, which makes me wonder what changes the partial silver OPTs would have on the BA.

Here are some photos for reference. This looks like Craig wired it up himself, but who knows.

On this run, Craig deviated from his famous silver Sharpie serial number, which I like. The metal stud knob/ pot indicators and printed serial number gives this run of BAs a bit of Moth Audio feeling.
