Banned on HF? Have you heard of VPN's and creating a new account? I'm not pulling anything like that around here or on HF but it's literally child's play these days. Just get a vpn and register with a new super happy pro-Jude account.

Also - just for the record, I don't really have a horse in the race either way. I'm just here for the S/N and good fun.

 

Sure, I'm just saying that if you need to get on HF to sell things it's totally doable.

 

That's a lot of bs to deal with.. I totally understand the "f**k it, shut it down" attitude. This isn't a business for anyone like HF is for Jude, so why deal with it.

 

I'm going to be honest, I do flip stuff sometimes. However,I don't do any of that buying and selling here. Here I buy for me to use. And I don't sell higher than I bought.
but, I just did sell something on eBay for $337.01 that I bought for $50 on Craigslist.

 

Would be nice if we had a trader reputation system here, though I know that might be a hassle to implement/maintain.

And, I'm not interested in it as a punitive thing. Honestly, I want to sing the praises of those that have helped me out and provided very well priced gear that I couldn't have afforded otherwise. Currently, I have no way to praise their generosity other than to chime in whenever I see them post something additional for sale.

 

I've bought and sold very few things here but I would be most sad to see the FS forum go. Actually the experiences I've had with regards to it have always built good will between both parties and introduced me to people that I wouldn't know much at all otherwise, especially as I mostly lurk and don't post very often (relatively speaking).

Besides I find eBay to be a hassle and I refuse to sign up for HF.

Are you talking about people who participated for years at Changstar (ABS and above), or are they people who should've been vetted—but weren't—during the age of "open borders" here at SBAF? Just name names, man. It's inexcusable either way.

 

Why not just leave a comment in the for sale thread about how the transaction went? No need for extra work on behalf of the staff. Just close the thread after the comments are made. Since the threads are not deleted anyway.

 

There will always be flippers, scammers, and other issues whenever money comes into play. Both buyer and seller should be aware of the risks going in, not any different from craigslist. Closing the forum up to randoms would just shrink the customer pool by a large margin (I'd imagine). A feed back rating system doesn't really mean much either since most people don't usually sell and buy that often, if anything it'd just help out the flippers that would buy up all the cheap items.
I also have friends in real life that I would absolutely not deal with when it comes to anything involving money, that's just how things are. I would guess that the vast majority of the transactions here work out pretty well, and serve the spirit of the friendly nature of the board.
