Is there a sub-$1k hardware equalizer I can use with Bifrost Multibit and V200? I know there are software solutions, but I like physical dials and switches.

I just talked about this in another thread. It is not fully HW as it needs to be configured with a PC, but it's stand alone after you are set an done fine tunning:

    Entry level 2.1 equalization dutties:
    https://www.minidsp.com/products/minidsp-in-a-box/minidsp-2x4

    Higher end AV equalization dutties:
    https://www.minidsp.com/products/ht-series/nanoavr-hda

Even higher end equalization dutties (there are stereo versions also):
    https://www.minidsp.com/products/dirac-series/ddrc-88a

I don't have experiense with their higher end stuff, but I'm pretty happy with the minidsp-2x4. Would recommend.

If you are happy with setting up with a computer and then let it go in stand-alone, then this may be a good option that will not break the bank. The solutions tend to be small as well, so they don't become eye-sores to other folks and significant other.

I use the lower end version for my subs and it works great!

The miniDSP are pointless since you can just do the same functions in software and their settings are software controlled.

if you want dials and stuff, here you go:
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/DBX-231-Gra...175722?hash=item4d403c4dea:g:9UQAAOSwUuFW0wXm

You will need RCA to XLR adapters going in.

Or get two of these (one per channel): http://www.ebay.com/itm/DBX-530-Par...043998?hash=item4d3d20d65e:g:hvMAAOSwZ1lWeL6s

It depends. If you have a PC or laptop running things then you probably don't need the miniDSP. If you don't have a pc running things or for some reason need things decoupled from the computer, it sort of does the job.

An application would be if you have folks, say my parents or whatever, who don't want to deal with a computer hooked up to their stereos or hometheater and want something that just works. Then the miniDSP sort of works if you have someone to help you set it up and forget it's even there.

For me, I just wanted something that my family and I didn't have to muck around and didn't need a PC and just worked. Convinience. That was the bedroom situation.

BTW, I'm in no way a miniDSP MOT or whatever. If someone thinks miniDSP is a useless POS, I couldn't care less. All I can say is that it worked for me.

@purrin - Have you tried the dbx one? I'm worried about the sound quality given how inexpensive it is.

Behringer DEQ2496: 10 parametric filters, fully digital, dials and knobs, cheap. It goes between your source and the Bifrost Multibit. AES and toslink outputs only, but maybe a XLR to cinch cable works. It's got analog inputs and outputs too.
