No need, Fuzzor can be seen to have little to no measurable difference in the second post of this thread.

Hard to say. I just know that it's a very audible difference simply by waving the grills in front of the open back. Not subtle at all.

I can imagine. Removing the cotton/fiberglass, for example, was very noticeable. The cotton makes the presentation overall too forward and the upper mids sound more prominent. But, again, measurements show nothing.

Buzzing distortion is usually evident as distortion products of extremely high order. Usually very hard to pin down in normal sweeps because they tend to be very low in level, and higher order than what people would cover with the traces.
What's the noise floor when you take measurements?

I wouldn't know anything about what yields these changes with and without the grill.

The grill creates a reflection with delay... but this doesn't show up as a distortion product does it? Would something like an impulse response show it?

So it seems like the best simple mods for the HE 6 would be to cut out that FG an go with the Audeze Vegan Pads

any one have a link for removing the Fiber Glass?

The fiberglass/cotton is just some stuffing behind the grill. It isn't attached to anything, it's just sitting in there.

But, yeah, just doing the vegan pad mod has significant benefits. Removing the fiberglass/cotton opens up a bit more as well. A re-grill no grill could also be beneficial.

*sigh* I swear I'ma get my taxes back and do something stupid... I just know I am... but yea I might just to that man. Vegan Pads an yank out that fiber glass crap, and I'll ask this once more, do you think 5+w balanced outa my NFB10ES2 is enough to drive the HE 6? I'd hate to get it... and it's less impressive than my HE 6, I don't expect the same SHEER FREAKING AGGRESSION, but I do expect the same lvl of tactility if not better

    Bumping this old-but-great thread :)
I've now Shure pads & original Velour pads in front of me. I prefer the original velour pads over the Shure which are dampening the sound a bit too much, but sometimes I'm a bit sensitive to the trebles with velours so I tried to add a piece of felt in front of the driver. It works great for me and I wonder if I still should try Vegan pads since they are so expensive here in EU.
Did you have the chance to try felt in front of the driver with velour? Thanks

I haven't tried felt on the HE-6 but in the past I recall that felt brings the 8-10kHz area down a few dBs, sometimes at the cost of sounding muffled. I'd stick to it if you enjoy it!
