What's with you cross posting the same comments here and on HF?

Don't be a dick. You seriously joined SBAF, haven't introduced yourself like every new person does, and are now just bitching in this thread. All 10 of your posts are here in this one thread. I'm beginning to doubt if you have any units.

I know three friends personally who opted for the upgrade and are enjoying it.

@SHAWN P. WATSON whatever loosier tool. those of us that have the GO2A talked about what an upgrade it was over GOV2. clearly and obviously.
those of us that didn't have a GOV2 Infinity to compare to a GO2A, well - we don't just make things up.

once my GO2A Special Edition arrives, I'll be sure to PM everyone except you how it compares to GO2A and GOV2+ Special Edition and GOV2+ Infinity.

Wow, this is a tough crowd. I did cross-post with head-fi.org--yes. I'm very interested to hear what people have to say about the GO2A. I'm assuming hundreds of people got the upgrade. Usually, when something is a hit, people like to express that passion. I've read perhaps only about a half-dozen people quickly comment about the 2A sound. And I've heard some second-hand anecdotal generalizations. Overall there are few detailed comments/reviews yet. I'm sort of impatient I guess. People like to compare notes. In my previous long post, the last thing I said was, "Perhaps I'm full of shit...." (with my assessment of the 2A). I actually said this. Go back and look.

I'm rather baffled that I'm the only one with a negative assessment of the newer sound. Now, I do have another agenda? Well, I'm hoping someone at the aforementioned company will take note. I'm not a hater. I'm not a bitcher just for bitching sake. I'm really not. I'm a big fan that is admittedly disappointed. I think they can do better. I sort of see myself as perhaps the canary in the cave. I'm a little worried for the company and for myself with this release. Also, I ALWAYS try to give credit where credit is due: I've said that I love LH Labs products. I've said they have very responsive customer service. I've said the new red casework is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! I've also said the sonic signature of the 2A is in fact more dynamic and clearer on the leading edge of the music.

But I really want to hear some more detailed assessments and comparisons by professional reviewers to be honest. If I'm completely off the mark and it just boils down to my particular preferences, then I need to know that. Perhaps I'll have to try some tube gear or whatever (I've never heard tube gear btw).

@SHAWN P. WATSON I have some advice...read MOAR. If you read through this whole thread you will see tons of detailed reviews describing the sound qualities that you say you heard but now don't. If you notice the title of this thread does not say anything about GO2A. Thus, if you read more you would understand that many including myself feel that the changes are not dramatic and are merely additive to the great sound that the GOV2 family has. You are an outlier that feels your purchase was a mistake. Shitposting is not going to change your perception of the sound nor get everyone to chime in and agree with you.

Now, this is not the customer service complaint thread for LH Labs either, although some including myself have complained about it here, but it is not our first series of posts.

More simple advice, if you don't like the sound of something, try to tweak it if you can, or just sell it and read more (notice a trend?) and listen and try to find what YOU like.

I would strongly caution about waiting for "professional reviewers" to chime in. I only found CS/SBAF because I made several purchases of highly rated products off of "trusted" professional reviews and realized I was duped.

But seriously, go sell your gear and move on.

@Gaspasser. Thank you for your good advice. I will sell if the retro-fit does not go well. And I will move off this topic/thread and onto something more positive. Peace guys.

this would make for an interesting thread on it's own!
    ie.
"So back when I read Cnet and that Steve guy said that <product X> was great, i bought it and turned out to be junk. everyone should be aware."

Cool, thanks. Whats the reason for avoiding the software volume control? Because you lose bits?

I trust my own ears and those of a trusted few over any professional reviewer honestly.

As an aside, I ordered a shanling M1. It's small and has USB out support so I'm going to see how good of a pairing it is with the V2+ SE and revive. That might be my mini stack for the meet.

    Yes.

I didn't really notice much difrer3nce besides the amazing case. That was worth it alone for me. Otherwise, maybe the balanced and SE are closer in sound quality now.

Yeah, the SE output is the most noticeable upgrade. I can detect improvements reliably when A/Bing through the ZDS and Jotunheim, though. I max out output and set them both to 2V setting and run them as DACs.

I'm looking forward to testing the GO2A SE against my GOV2 and Mojo through the Andros, it'll be a good critical listening exercise for me. I hope Larry's schedule is nice and clear to start getting those made up :).

    ZD-
did you custom build a TRRS to XLR (L+R) cable for GO2A balanced out into balanced Amps (Jotun)?
or was it a stock cable purchase from somewhere?

Any sense how the V2+ would fare with the andromeda? Output impedance is close to 0 on this thing...

It's bassy just like most nearly 0 ohm OI devices and has a little hiss, but i pair my gov2+ and Andromeda with an iFi IEMatch adapter at the ~2.5 ohm setting and it sounds much more balanced with a silent background.

I'm guessing it'll be pretty close to Mojo, maybe a tiny bit brighter. The lowest available impedance adapter I could find (20 ohm) is too bright, so I'l be ordering one of these: http://www.superbestaudiofriends.org/index.php?threads/ifi-audio-iematch.2859/ to see how that works. 2.5 ohms sound ideal.

interesting, thanks! would it be better to just use the iFi IEMatch thingy and bypass the V2/+ altogether for andromeda? presumably something like the vega would benefit more from the dedicated amp in the V2/+
