I haven't had a chance to coordinate with @Marvey if he wanted to proceed. Wasn't sure if there was a change of priorities.

Will have to be after the meet. Gearing up and planning for the meet from now until then.

    little rant/

I'm seeing more and more companies set prices for new products higher and higher, claiming that this is the best, and it's okay to pay this much because we're "insert egotistical company name here". This is ridiculous! People with money will always buy the best but, c'mon...the price/performance ratio is starting to approach infinity (<-and that's not a number).

    /end rant

    @cskippy

Thankfully we still have two brands: Schiit and Emotiva which counters this trend.

6000€ and using USB OR onboard coax SPDIF from the motherboard?!? f**k that.

@Marvey has some words about lampizator gear.

Maybe the English translation for lampizator is lambs to the slaughter.

Might not be super related, but I have been using an ancient Lynx One for several months, and here is my 2c. I bought from a local dude for only 40$, but it came with no cable though, so I had to make my own. Fortunately, the manual has everything needed, including db25 pinouts.
Sound quality? So far so good. Almost on par with my Teac 10 when both function as digital transport, and a big step up from the Gustard U10. Compared to the U10, the Lynx is smoother and more natural. Music is kind of flowing into you rather in-your-face presentation of the U10. Ability to render plankton is also better. The U10 seems to have more details when briefly listened, but that's just due to the etched treble, and is easy to notice given extended auditions. The Teac 10 is still better though, but it also costs 10 times more (at least in my country that is).
Drawbacks? A lot. Yes, there are that many. The card is really outdated compared to today's standard. Legacy PCI, driver only supports XP-based or lower 32-bit OS, and the driver itself is a pain to install and use. Also, highest supported sampling rate is only 48kHz. It can do 24bit though.

Exactly, that is just ridiculous. I would throw that pos sotm card away and stuff my Digigram card in then it would sound exactly like my $1000 server except it would be beautiful..

In the article, they mention about this unique WBT-0703 Cu based grounding. Maybe it's worth researching into why they installed this gizmo. Why do you need another chassis grounding? Any experts here? (Paging for @Rb2016)

I read this thread and googled Lynx Aes16. Found one in stock new (national company) for a weekly deal 410eur/460usd, last day tomorrow.

I pressed a button, and in less than 30min I spent 460usd on something I didn't know I was buying. Finally getting rid of USB though, and thinking this can just jump from PC-build to PC-build and give decent non-usb audio. Any tried it with directly AES to DAC?
Looking forward to hooking it up to my nad m51, which I've read that the AES input is the better option. Been looking for a usb converter that was worth the upgrade (using only usb now), but haven't found one yet. Looks like this might be it.

    Be gone ye usb-nervosa!

I can't find this sale you're referring to. Could you post a link? Also, are we talking about the PCI or PCIe version?

The supplier for Lynx products for Sydney and Melbourne, Australia have run out of the Lynx cable to AES output - wondering if this is the work of our SBAFers down under? ;)

An AES16e should be on its way to me this week, but the cable is on backorder :(
