The Noble X likes some added impedance. It will brighten up a bit. The JR shouldn’t make it warmer in this case. X just might be too warm for you in general.

Is that 5 ohms at 2k-5k? Will definitely need something low impedance with this.

Edit: Meatball has earned my first ever Ignore

From near zero source impedance (Magni 3), it's more like Ety SR with a ton of bass. I prefer the foam tips to take the edge off a bit.

From ZX2 with two ohm source impedance, it's more what I initially described. UERM mids with HD650 treble. I prefer the double flange tips here to maintain sharper transients.

I think the sweet spot for might be 1 ohm. LOL!

Yes. It's five. So these will react quite a bit to source impedance, sounding more like Audezes as we go up past 4 or 5 ohms. Not necessarily a bad thing.

The more I hear and learn about output impedance, the more I speculate why responses to various iems over the years have been all over the board.

I thought banned for being dweeb with zits who hangs out on Reddit, has strong Google-Fu to cite Toole and Olive, and trolls MD forums screaming at @Cspirou: placebo!

It's a factor that is all too easy to forget, especially with multi-driver balanced armature designs. Good lessons learned or reinforced to me in past few days (ProPhile 8 for example). BA IEM impressions should always be stated in context of source. And one should never assume or take vendor specs for granted. An impedance curve plot is crucial.

@Marvey could you post pictures of these? I wish these didnt have the connector bulge on the housing, spoils the look slightly (or maybe I'm just making excuses to tell myself not to buy them)

Agree, they'd look smexier with rounded contours around the connector housing. And making it rounded wouldn't really affect the flushness to the ear that much. This will stop me from buying them ... LOL

Thanks, @Kattefjaes - I did see those but I wanted less studio like pictures to see what they'd look like in real life :)

Ah I should stop nitpicking to find reasons not to buy em. I'm not earning money yet (I start my job in a month or so), so I cant. I shouldnt.

These are a very shallow shell, which makes them very flush with the ear. The standoff on the connector is necessary for the cable to clear the ear based on how shallow the shell is. Sure, they could have filled it in more so it didn't standoff, but then the rest of the body would stick out more.

Here's how they sit in my ears (Noble lightning cable in use):

Additionally, here's a "non-studio" picture, with an aftermarket Null audio cable.

Avoid the Ak Jr. and ZX2 here. The GO2A is a really good move, but the noble lightning cable is pretty good for $80 with these if you're an iOS user. I would use foam tips and wouldn't try for super deep insertion. Spinfits and spiral dots are not the way I'd go here. As @Marvey said, foam takes the edge off a bit. Lower OI amp section + foam tips with shallow to medium insertion (depending on your ears) seems to be the best choice.

I'm going to test out the SDAC and GO2A + leckerton which I suspect are going to really rock these. For those of you wanting something tastefully rolled up top, I might try out the Alo RX (IEM version).

Just a note to say I had a bad experience with the Noble mic cable. The heat shrink cable that they included with the Noble X is still going strong, but the mic cable I ordered from Noble broke within 2 months. I used it daily in my pocket but it's not like I put it through the wringer. I could tell from first glance that it was especially fragile. I would recommend buying a sturdier cable from elsewhere considering the price. YMMV.
