Oh OK; I didn't realize that. That makes sense. Thanks for clarifying.
dino here's your 2.5mm trrs female to 3.5mm trrs male adapter. it's $2.45 unlike the $60 options these other fools are throwing out! I knew my being a cheap bastard would one day become my superpower
Mine was only $40... LOL
As long as the pinouts are correct, that's a bargain.
@CEE TEE any chance of a 4.4mm balanced option as well I'd love a cheap, good quality spare cable to go with the Sony DAPS. If the ZX300 has a good OI could be a cracking combo.
Could anyone please give some information regarding the detail retrieval and sound separation in these compared to Pinnacle P1's? I love the sound signature of those but I think the detail level and sound separation lack a bit.
I currently save up for Andros but you know shelling out 1.1k USD in a heartbeat is kinda hard to justify, so maybe these might be the cure for my upgradeitis.
@gixxerwimp TRRS is OK for the 3.5mm side? Do the R- and L- connect to ground in standard 3.5mm female inputs? Or is this only for the ZX2? the 4th pin is traditionally for the mic signal.
Any balanced output via a single 3.5mm jack. HiFiMan/LHLabs/Sony. (Isn't exactly correct for Sony since it's not balanced, just separated grounds.)
Thanks, I wasn't aware of other 3.5mm balanced products.
AFAIK, if you insert a male 3.5mm balanced connector into a female TRRS socket of a smart phone (or laptop) where the 4th pin is for the mic signal, you probably won't get both channels. If you insert it into a 3.5mm single-ended socket, then you'll probably get both channels as long as the ground contact inside bridges both L- and R- on the male connector.
This is way off topic now. Usually happens when hardly anyone has the device in their possession.
Decided to jump on this drop. Hoping that this will be my ‘endgame’ portable setup.
I thought this was a three-way but it turns out the third BA is a second woofer to augment the bass. So sort of like a 2.5 way?
I found this additional viewpoint from @La Cenric here very helpful in making my purchase decision.
EDIT: The part I found helpful was about deep insertion and timbre. I have Ety’s that I don’t use because of the deep insertion needed hurts after a short period.
I just read that. The combo of Muppetface and shotgunshane put me over the edge along with a lot of other trusted ears at SBAF. The impedance is a bit concerning since my iPhone 6S has an OI of 5 ohms. I’m investigating my portable amp/DAP options. I have some time though since I won’t get this until Jan/Feb.
As far as DIY goes, is a CMoy a good choice?
Just got a pair of FLC 8S to complement my Vega (and to play around with different tunings), but damn are these Massdrop Plus IEMs interesting. Anyone listened to both the FLC and the Massdrop Plus?
The Massdrop plus sounds great out of my old iPod 5.5 + apex glacier.
Haven't heard the flc in a long time, but thought it was okay, not great, enjoying the Massdrop more, for what it's worth. The tuning on the Massdrop is pretty great.
Glacier is an awesome amp choice. Leckerton is a little too much bass bloom for this.
Measurements on Jude's rig now posted on the drop page. His shows a lot more presence in the 4-10k range.

Spoiler: MD charts
EDIT: @Grahad2 beat me to it
the 7.5k peak in FR seems to be related to the 2.5k distortion peak, maybe due to D3?
@shotgunshane could you please do me a favour and let me know how does this compares to something like a blutack modded fostex te- 02? My mobile setup is currently DFR+ my modded te-02. I was initially saving up for campfire andromeda, but am wondering if this will be a significant upgrade...
