Well what'd you know, the Nexus 5X is more expensive here than the LG G4! o_O If only LG was as virtuous with Android updates. My wife has the original Nexus 5 and I still admire how speedy and functional it is.

Well yeah it is, except for the scenic views and swimming with the sharks. :p
Just interesting that the Nexus 5X RRP comes in at $200 less than the G4 in the US, but manages to out price the G4 here by $100. Our units are imported from Europe so I guess Europeans are also getting a raw deal on the new Nexus phones?

That's lame. I wonder if its just the lifecycle of the G4 that's dropping the price. How are Moto phones to South Africa? Do they come through Europe as well?

Off Topic: I got to visit Cape Town about twelve years ago. Such a fascinating and beautiful city.

Moto phones are also sourced from Europe, but more affordable if the Moto G and X Play are anything to go by. Was actually hoping for a Moto X successor to last years model. The 5.5 and 5.7" phones are a bit bulky, same for the LG G4.

I have heard that, though it's still on the larger side for me. Even my S4 seemed a little big to me when I first got it, though I adjusted (the HTC Incredible it replaced had a 3.7" screen). Nowadays it seems like phones are crawling into tablet territory.

to be honest the nexus phones don't really call my attention that much.

the 6 is too big and is spec overkill

and the 5 doesn't have amoled so no dice for me.

The oneplus X looks more interesting too me add nfc and wireless charging and you have my dream phone.

Well that arrived quickly! Apparently big g got their shit into gear after several pre orders shipped a little late (thanks for overcompensating with overnight shipping!).

This thing is f'ing slick. Marshmallow is beautiful and effortless. The stock Android experience is unrivaled. All the little quirks that bugged me with my g3 and friends' Samsungs are simply not present. I will tell more after a few days, but so far I am not at all referring this purchase.

Even after using my Moto X Pure (which is not stock android, though close), I despise using my wife's Samsung. Ack.

I do wish I'd waited a little bit longer to order my Moto X but I got $100 of Jet.com cash when I did (Using their affiliate link), effectivley bringing the price down to $300. We were able to use the money to get some great deals on Christmas gifts, though Jet.com is not for everyone. All that being said, I'm happy with the Moto X Pure for $300. Were it not for the deal, I should have waited for reviews to at least compare the X Style and 6P. I look forward to finding a friend who has one. I may still be tempted.

I get it. The price delta is not insignificant, and there were several times I almost got the moto, but my stupid best buy STILL doesn't have an x pure to try in hand, and I liked the camera reviews for 6p over the moto, so I figured what the hell. Note: the camera is stupidly good.

Does the 6P have a portion of the screen to touch to take a picture (like a button)? The whole screen of the Moto X activates the camera which can be a real pain. I read it was to help with one-handed pictures but honestly the camera is too big to take a one-handed picture without worrying about dropping it.

I like that the 6p isn't a 20+ mp camera. The X Style seems over the top in that regard.

Yup. There is s button on screen in a natural spot for portrait shots, but I am accustomed to using the volume button from iPhone, so they if ask I have used so far. Can't you install the Google camera app to use on the moto?

    A) I am disappointed I didn't just wait a couple months to pick up a Nexus 6. They're cheap now!
    B) I am disappointed the 6P has a smaller screen. The Nexus 6 just-shy-of-6" screen is perfect for my big, lanky hands.

How's the screen on the 6p compared to note 4 or iphone 6 plus? I really wanted to love the nexus 6 but ultimately couldn't pull the trigger after seeing it side by side with its direct competitors.

I understand the 6p has a sumsung manufactured screen in the same resolution and generation as note 5, but I just read that it has lower max brightness. Any comments on the screen after using it for several weeks ZD? Also, as a lesser consideration, how is the stock headphone out? Any hiss with high sensitivity iem's?

To be honest I'm disappointed by the 6P's battery life. Last night I ended the day with 12% and 1.5 hours screen on time. :/

That's the worst case though, I've been getting about 3.5 hours SOT usually, which still feels like a downgrade from my Oneplus One but everything about this phone is better so of course I'm gonna keep it!

    Re: Battery
I made it from ~2:30P tuesday through 9:30P wednesday with 10% left, after 4.7 hours of reported screen on time. Note, when I am sitting at my desk at office (most of my day) it is sitting still on a stand. Still, I was impressed. Those 31 hours also included one of my personal phone benchmarks: porn. With multiple chrome windows open to streaming videos for ~30 minutes it neither bogged down nor froze, and the battery performance was as above. Pretty good in my book.

I'm strongly considering replacing my malfunctioning N5 with N5X, but I'm unsure whether to buy 16GB or 32GB as I have ~27GB unused on my N5 32GB.

The only reason I can think of for buying another 32GB phone is the resale value. Is that a good enough reason? Am I overlooking some other important factor?

That is an impressive amount of free space. Go for the 32. Phones with 16GB are already hard to sell, and even as more things move to cloud storage, it will be much harder to resell a 16GB phone in 2017 than it is now.
