You might want to upload it to imgur or postimg rather than here, not working for me either, so he's prolly left out as well.

I am pretty sure that in order to link to photos in dropbox, the photo must be placed in the Public directory and you have to leave it there.

Speaking of Russian tubes for some reason when i put them in the WA22 i get a buzzing sound cleaned the pins same thing so i tried them in the WA2 not a sound go figure.I had the same problem with 6H30Pi EH tubes that i use as power tubes in the Littledot mk3 total silence ,i tried them as drivers in tne WA22 they are compatible i get that buzzing sound i asked others and 1 guy said in his amp they were silent .Woo said it was the tubes fault i tried 2 different pairs same result another mystery . Did some shopping today got a pair of globe style UX280 a single 83V and a pair of Visseaux 6N7GT got a picture of the Visseaux will post pictures of the others when i get them [IMG]

I have the same issue with the DV336SE. All EH tubes howl. Can't even call it a buzz. New production TS/Russian bottles hum louder than the music. Elise? Silence.

Woo seems to always blame the tubes.
Very nice! I'm starting to get an itch to try another 83V, myself. Not familiar with the UX280. Just looked it up and it sure looks like I need one. :)

    Hi!

I have dropped by to talk RCA vs GE ! Shaffer the pic you posted in the Crack thread - no 3rd mica & large shields/flaps above the 2nd mica (like pic below). Not sure I've seen any GE 6080s with those?

It's late here, am I talking shit? Give it to me straight. I'll check in 2moro.

I really envy the fact that you Woo guys can roll all these low power rectifiers. No wimpy rectifiers for me! lol. The Glenn requires a rectifier that puts out at least 250ma. So even a GZ32 is borderline with some tube combinations....

Jeb... As Shaffer points out, if the tube doesn't have the tube number and dot pattern sandblasted into the glass, GE didn't make it. Off the top of my head, the tube in the pic looks to me to be an RCA 6080.

Thanks guys - yes after checking no sign of any GE dots and there's little remaining of what was printed on the tube, except for half an RCA logo. In any case , I appreciate the vigilance and expertise.

I didn't much like the sound but I should try and source one of those better RCA 6080 models you mentioned before. Always satsifying to find inexpensive tubes that deliver.

Thanks I'll look for some black plates.

I loved the Tung Sol 6080. - I presume this bears some resemblance to your Chatham 6080WA. I can't believe the price of these things. I just missed 3 for $10 on eBay due to getting distracted with wine. Damn wine. I found the Bendix is perhaps a slightly smoother, more robust sound but I find the Tung Sol 6080 I have a bit more of a dynamic and lively proposition - without ever overdoing it.

I happen to own a tube identical to this one, labeled Heinz Kaufmann. It also has an etched octagon logo with 6080 printed in it so I always assumed that it was a re-branded RCA tube.

About potato mashers,I have tried the Tungsol version of those and I liked that one. It doesn't throw a large soundstage but its fast and dynamic and quite resolving for such a cheap rectifier'. Definitely recommended for people who enjoy fast paced music
