I was actually looking at building a set of those... but curious on placement requirements. Are yours 7' out in the room because of your equipment layout? or because they need to be there for sonics? My use case is going to need them against a wall (and WAF is going to want them in corners)

I suspect the reason is that they just sound best in nearfield (as does anything, really) (ok, maybe not nearfield, nearer- field ;D). It's an 8 inch fullrange, It'll start getting very directed after 1500Hz or so. Baffle step for this speaker should be from 125 Hz to 2khz (where the driver becomes kinda directive, so good design in my opinion). 125 hz has a wavelength of 2.7m, so to avoid reinforcing the bass from the walls, maybe like 1m give or take, away from the large reflective surfaces. If you don't care about a bit more extra bass, I don't see how this would be problematic if next to the wall. You might want to angle it towards you, still, however, not sure how much of a help that interesting waveguide/cup design is, it might help with that somewhat. Just my 2 cents.

The other unfinished brand new raw set I had built are for sale as of last night. Brand new built ready for drivers. They can be veneered or finished if one wants in any wood/color (extra cost of course) desired but these are driver drop in ready. These are nicer than the original ones as much more attention to detail was paid. These are a great opportunity to save big time off the 6,700.00 Decware price , and ZERO wait time.

These are 7 feet out in the room 8 feet apart. Nearest sidewalls are 6 feet, with the chair at a bit over 8 feet. The toe-in amount was checked 1/2" at a time till the size of the stage started to lessen a bit, then moved back to the previous 1/2" setting. It ended up being just a little outside of head on. When they crossed a bit in front of me some magic was lost. I always appreciate the numbers and do my best to understand them but I'm smart enough to let me builder and designers do the heavy math. Over time once in my room builders and designers have brought their computer gear, and know how in for fun, and my ears ended up being their choice over sometimes recommended numbers and placement positions almost 100% of the time. I am always open to ideas. This April will be 25 years in this room. I worked so much that I did not address the room seriously till about 5 years ago. It has performed far better than I could ever have afforded or hoped for at the time. This entire room was put together with used acoustic treatment that a generous friend of mine sold to me. I purchased over 9,000.00 in room treatments for the price of two panels because he needed it gone ASAP due to a move, and I was available and had a truck. Some things are just seemingly meant to be sometimes.

That's where they sound best. My gear was never up front till a few weeks ago but speakers go where they sound best first. Always. I know this room so I have no tape on the floors but when a new speaker comes in as they regularly do they get placed in a general area for their design then the placement adjustments, and tweaking goes from there. Every room is different so do not let me stop you from experiencing this speaker in your environment personally. Reach out to Steve if you have questions. It's a nice treat that he will answer back. I have been able to speak with him within reason at anytime about anything for over 17 years now. It's always nice to have the source available for discussions, and that can be rare.

    2024 update.
First vinyl rig, trying to see if I can get something different and perhaps even better (with the right record) than my digital system.

Also blinds installed and moved racks around.

Nice. You jumped in at the deep end on analog! I see a Garrard 401, a Wand tonearm, and a Lyra Kleos. Who made the plinth? What's the phono stage? Congrats!

The plinth was built by Leviathan Audio here in Australia and the top plate is isolated from the rest of the plinth. I don't think they are in operation any more.

The phono is my atc sca-2 preamp which came with thr phono board upgrade.

Looking at tube based phono options, preferably balanced output for my atc speakers.

You should have a link to your audio room build log in your signature.

I may get the 200s or if atc do a limited edition but these will be my main speakers until i hear something that convinces me otherwise.
I have thought about using my 150s for a separate cinema room if I get the limited editions for the listening room.

New space will be a big enough room (like 12.5x8x4 metres) with storeage so that I can run a few different kinds of speakers. I couldn't say run jbl 4367 or proac d100 in the current room. Nor move them in and out easily.

If I had the money/space/etc, I would hunt down a pair of ATC EL150.
Hifishark tells me there are three in the EU, but those appear to be old ads.

ATC has also been known to do custom cabinets if you are so inclined. I spotted this groovy setup years ago:

Yeh the el150 looks amazing. A grail discontinued legendary speaker.

The bee limited editions with external amps and custom atc plinths also look very nice
