Data request: @purr1n could you share the compensation file(s) for the flat-plate coupler? That'd help people with similar couplers calibrate their raw results to yours and make their own compensations.

Photo of flat plate coupler. Obviously the Lego pieces are not supposed to be there and only added for perspective on the size of the felt overlay that goes on top on the Creatology foam.

Compensation to be "comparable" back to EARS32, I first standard with B&K AES1970 type compensation and worked backwards comparing to datasets where I had both EARS and FPC measurements. It's not perfect, but the results "average" out over a dozen or so headphones. I will be adding a large set of FPC measurements, so if you wanted to do some data analysis, you can do so yourself. For now the FPC2.1 is the best that I have.

Also very important to note that this compensation is based on my particular Dayton UMM-6 USB microphone.

FYI, I've uploaded a ton of compensated FPC data to http://hpdb.io from the past three years. There is some scattered stuff from Audeze, Drop, Grado and others I'll need to add. Also want to up a fresh HD6XX. Then I'll go back in time to add more from Changstar prior years' "V2" = FPC.

Just FYI, I just changed the default window of my online chart tool thingy so now it'll show 0-line (no offset) by default.

So, to use the tool, you can just download one of the measurements in the Github repository, add it, and enjoy! No need to add +90dB offset anymore.

I'll spend some more time this weekend to clean up the source code and make it more readable.

P.S.: if you're not seeing the new default -50 -> 20dB window, please empty your browser cache!

Thank you for sharing this database! BTW, Atticus and Auteur FPC measurements don't seem to display properly.

I've uploaded the remaining datasets. There should be 60+ headphones FR up there. I'll look for stragglers (files) and upload when I see them. HD6XX is still missing, working on fresh measurement for it.

In the meantime, while I was uploading, I found a cheap closed headphone of interest. It's not the most resolving, but closed headphones with decent FR are rare. I had forgotten about this one.

Also new FPC measurements, now compensated, better illustrate why I always had some sort of issue with HFM headphones' frequency response unless mods were applied.

Thanks for this. This gave me a good place to start with my flat plate rig. I had a more downward tilt on initial measurements with my EMM-6 mic. It might be due to my particular mic. I bumped everything between 3k - 10k up 3db. Anyway, here is my results of HD600 (purple) vs HD650 (yellow).

Still some adjustment in that last octave from 10k-20k, but this is a really fair start.

Here are the pictures of my flat plane rig. Just a simple box from the craft store. Some padding and flat also from the craft store.

I drilled 1/2" holes at an angle for the test mic to fit and sit without even a stand. The mic is omnidirectional, but still kind of points forwards like our ears would.

Less than $30 for supplies, not counting the mic. I think I paid $70 used, so $80 for the rig.

Keep microphone flush with coupler surface. Note that this mic doesn't roll as as much as the UMM-6. It reports a few db higher at 20kHz.

    Thanks for that.

The only difference between the UMM-6 and EMM-6 is that E is a standard mic with XLR connector and mic preamp with 48V phantom required. I used my Focusrite preamp, which also has more air in that top octave.

@Marvey Can you add HD8XX (final tuning), HD650 (EARS SBAF v3.2 if possible) and SR325X to the database, please?

Will add a few more. No HD8XX on EARS since very limited time I had them. Will do so after I get one. In meantime, will upload FPC.

I don't know why, but the only new measurement I see in the database is the FPC HD800SA (anniversary)? Also do you have a FPC HD650/HD6XX measurement you can upload? Thanks!
