That's not right. Maybe an s-woofer cable would work.

Possibly just length? My interconnects are rather short as the components are close together, but my sub cables are about 10 feet.

Ah, so that's where the usb to subwoofer adapter comes in...(dual subs is always better!)

    LOL. Thanks for the feedback!

This is what some allude to. Definitely the insulation around subwoofer cables seem much more substantial, and I am guessing because of the longer distances. I agree with you that honing in on the bass frequencies is probably effing up the rest of the spectrum. I could totally buy into this reasoning.

This is sort of why I was asking about it, that the rca sub cables were much longer in general and didn't know if they could be used as any other regular rca cable. But I'll err on the side of caution and just stick to "normal" ones.

Happens to the best of us! I've always found this particular gif very relatable.

This is metastasizing. I mailed a package at US Postal Service today, and was asked to answer this onscreen question:

"Does this parcel contain anything liquid, fragile, perishable, metaphorical, or potentially hazardous?"

Of course I answered "No." After all, everything in the Post Office is 3D, representational, and literal as f**k.

Yes, I made some RCA SE cables from DH Labs subwoofer cable. Hugely thick served stranded copper shield with a center core of copper. Let's just say bassy city. I have about 12 feet of the stuff if you want some cheap, :)

My best find for SE RCA wire is Mogami 2964 wire. Neutral and cheapish. Pick your RCAs of choice and you have a really good cable. I buy mine from Worlds Best Cables with Amphenol RCAs and they cost about $10 more than making them myself.

I'm using Blue Jeans Cable. They use the same cabling (LC-1) for their subwoofer cables as their RCA interconnects, just that it's ordered as a single cable instead of stereo pair. They comment that a critical function is to shield against interference.

They are very reasonably priced and I like being able to order exactly the length I need.

I'm also using those same Blue Jeans sub cables. Been quite happy with everything I have bought from them over the years.

Thanks everyone. I've used the WBC Cables before and they are good. I'll probably give BJC a try, I've heard a lot of good things about the LC-1 cable and which does not break the bank.

@bixby - I am a fan of the DH Labs cables too, I tried a digital interconnect from them, it was extremely well made and great sounding too.

Not long ago I bought their entry level AES cable (D-110). An excellent cable.

I am with you on the DH Labs digital. I really like their AES cable.

Yet, I am not a fan of Blue Jeans . When I tried the LC-1 rcas years ago I thought they were dull, undynamic and just boring, they were sold quickly. And long burn in did not help.

FWIW: My friend just did a comparison of two cables from Gotham, the GAC 1 unbalanced and the GAC 3. He and 2 others preferred the GAC 1 in their listening tests. He is on a bit of a Gotham kick lately and found some expensive power cable from them he also likes.

Never heard the LC-1. I did start out on my coaxial/digital cable journey with Blue Jeans' coax cable. Built like a brick shithouse and inexpensive. I thought I'd found nirvana...until I tried a far more expensive, silver digital coax cable (Oyaide DR-510). Man, what a difference! I never looked back.

Yes, the LC-1 is their unbalanced cable for analog. I thought I may have got it wrong, but nope, to quote "We feel that LC-1 represents the best combination of electrical characteristics and usability of any analog audio cable on the market today."

RE: coax cables for SPDIF. Decades ago I tried half a dozen or so from cable co and settled on the Ensemble Digiflux. And then years later tried a bunch of stuff again including 2 from PS audios head digital designer and some others and settled on the Empirical Design Coax. Both that and the Ensemble from a decade or 2 earlier used silver I believe. Both nice sounding stuff.

I would think that Oyaide would make nice sounding stuff, I use a few of their mid priced USB cables that are really good.

I found in my system at the time the BJC stereo RCA sounded very similar to the WBC Mogami (some what bright in comparison to the other two WBC). I also tried WBC Gotham (darker sounding) and WBC Canare (split the difference between the Mogami and Gotham. All cables were 3' and the WBC were with Amphenol RCA's
