I owned the X-Sabre for a while and while I liked it very much with speakers, I do believe it was a little less effective with my Senn 650s. With them I could hear some extra brightness up top that was not as natural as some other dacs. And because I know how sensitive the 800s are in that area, I do not feel it would be a good match.

Dacs I have heard recently that do not have this issue and are still not too expensive are Chord Mojo, Metrum Musette, Gungnir Multibit and MHDT Havana.

    Good luck.

If you are ever in NYC, then there are some good places, such as Audio46 and B&H. I've only been to Audio46, and I highly recommend them. They have a great selection of brands, such as Sennheiser, Hifiman, Audeze, etc, that they'll let you try, and the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. They'll even sometimes give you a discount if you talk to them about it or buy their demo models.

Thanks @bixby then the x-sabre is out. The Mojo is good but not what im looking for. The Gungnir Multibit and havana would be a good bet but the problem is finding them within Europe. In Portugal last time i ordered an Amp i ended up paying more 28% just in taxes, so thats a no-go again :|.

So the only way to become a friend is to give money?
But thanks for the infos, I'll look.
I tried the Grado sr80e (ik, don't kill me) and I quite liked them, but I would want to try them longer, and it would be nice to have more to compare, especially with higher priced models.
Oh, great, I might try that....

No, quality contributions can get you there, but they may be hard considering you don't have the gear yet.

Grados were my first pair of "nice" headphones as well. Now they're sold and I have what's on the leaderboard, hence the recommendation.

I did have nvx xpt100 and have modded t50rps, just didn't really impress me. I also have omega speakers I love, but they are speakers.
I just really haven't tried anything above the 100$ range, though when I tried the Grado I really liked them.

Or can I use you as a referance to say I'm a cool person deserving of friend status?

I'm not sure it works like that, I'm afraid.

Hello. Can anyone help me where I can find more information about converting normal HD600 cable to be balanced so I can use GOV2 balanced mode? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I have no idea what level of experience you have, but it's safer to presume none, so feel free to ignore anything that is obvious to you.

I suggest you start at the DIY forum here. There is a thread on cable building that is a good place to start and have more pointed conversations.

I also recall some chatter on this very topic in the gov2 thread or maybe the hd650 thread, so you could look there.

You will need at a minimum a soldering iron, solder, a multimeter, and a trrs jack. The good news is switching the jack on a cable is one of the best "first cable projects". Not hard, just time consuming.

Fraggler is the guy you want to get a hold of for that. He does great work for cables.

What if, and this is a big what if, there was some earwax in the treble port of my uerm, and when I went to scrape it out with the wax removal tool I accidentally pushed it farther in, and now I don't know how the f**k to get it out?

Hypothetically speaking, what the f**k do I do now!? Short of paying ue to deal with it, are there any tips or tricks?

Thank you very much for your feedback. Yes, I have ZERO experience in Cable and try to figure out what the best way to have balanced cable for HD600. I will try to get hold of Fraggler. :)

I'm considering getting a basic USB DAC/amp for rare utility situations when I'm not at my desktop setup, and don't have my dedicated DAP around. Something like a Dragonfly Black, around $100 bucks or so. What else should I be considering?

Must work with Windows and Android (wow the S7 is garbage), will be used with K10, Jupiter, portable closed backs, and maybe the HD800 if it can get loud enough. Doesn't need to be high end (considering budget) just acceptable sounding with a low noise floor, especially with those BA iems.
