There's a piece in a British newspaper today to promote the new Pixies live music box set (here). In the comments section someone posted this:

A friend of mine who was/ is a huge Pixies fan was the night porter at the Quebec Hotel in Leeds where they stayed after playing Leeds festival in 2005.

He was excited beyond all belief at the prospect of meeting them and did noty hold back in telling us about hsi excitement. Incredibly naively, given this was the clean Pixies Mark2 not the drug and booze addled geniuses of 15 yrs previous - Mark assumed there would be rock star bacchanalia, TVs thrown from windows and who knows what after the gig and he'd be there. Oh, was he mistaken!!

As he sadly recalled - they turned up in separate cars, went straight through the lobby without saying a word leaving minions to collect keys etc. Then silence. After an hour he gets a call from Black Francis' room - not to source booze or drugs or anything like that but a polite request about a specific type of herbal tea and some veggie salad.
Neither was available in Leeds in the early hours and Francis was vbery polite when informed of this. Then At 6.30 am there's a ring from Kim.......enquiring whether a yoga mat is available. Then at 08.00 they left, rooms left immaculate, no damage, no hookers spralled on beds, no dwarves taped to the ceiling, not even a sneaky fag butt

He recounted this in a genuinely mournful tone ending like a dejected child with "I even brought my guitar and thought there was a chance we'd get stoned and jam together. So pissed off I didn't even want their bloody autographs when they left. f**k herbal tea, f**k yoga, f**k the f'ing Pixes!!"

We nearly injured ourselves laughing​

 

Probably because it had ‘heart-a-choke’.
