Is the new Battlefront EA-neutered? I haven't been keeping up.

Fallout 4: junk collector 2015, but in a good way.

I'm actually loving it. Like butter on my SLI 970s. And the steam controller is pretty fun too

Yeah, let me try to list everything...
    - God rays off
    - Shadow distance to medium
    - Motion blur off
    - Forced actual fullscreen in ini (not borderless window, which seems to be the default)
    - changed ini for higher FOV (talk about nauseating tunnel vision!)
    - removed framerate cap in ini settings, which is basically a broken v-sync (i.e. the ini framerate cap + freesync capped framerate at 20fps)
    - Use some other ENBoost thing for supposedly better memory optimization or something.
    - This also includes a 60fps lock, cause any higher and you risk crashes or physics issues
    - ini tweak to turn off mouse acceleration
    - latest beta drivers

Blah, blah, blah...I've spent more time trying to tweak it to run well than I've spent time playing it. List goes on. Finally, I am at a relatively stable 60fps, but not without the typical stuttery performance you get from games on the Gamebryo engine. Or Creation engine. Whatever they're calling it these days.

All I've read is that it's a lot of fun BUT somewhat shallow in that it lacks maps and game types.

You know, the sort of thing they left out so you could buy it separately with DLC.

Hrm... Time to look into this new Battlefront

Edit: actually f**k ea, I swore I'd never support them after the bullshit they've been pulling and I'm going to stick to it.

I personally have not really enjoyed a game by Bethesda since Oblivion. They ruined TES with Skyrim by making it more of an action adventure game than a legit RPG.
I most likely will not be buying Fo4. Fo3 was meh in my opinion. They seemed to slap in the two weakest factions after the events of fallout 2 into a game just because it would be cool to have people in power armor and energy weapons fighting, then made it an FPS to appeal to a modern AAA gamer.
The story just felt thrown together from bits and pieces from the previous games.
Fo:NV had a story that made much more sense considering the predecessors. (and... The company that created NV was Obsidian. The successor company to Black Isle Studios, which was the company that worked on Interplay's version of Fallout 3 before Interplay almost went bankrupt and had to cancel.)
I consider NV the true successor to Fallout 2. It brought over the NCR and explained what had happened in the time between the games back in California.

Right now I am currently playing Wasteland 2. The original Wasteland was made by Interplay and was the first ever post apocalyptic RPG. In fact, it is what gave birth to the Fallout series. Wasteland 2 is made by a company founded by the director of the first two Fallout games and Wasteland, Inxile Entertainment.
I'm really enjoying it. It plays like what Fallout Tactics should have been.

(note: It's not that I don't enjoy FPS games, but I guess you could say I'm butthurt about my favorite classic RPG series being changed into something completely different.)

Yeah, tried those too. I'm getting a pretty consistent 60fps now (would be higher without the cap I set in place), but there's still something not quite perfectly smooth about the game. It's been like that since Oblivion. I'm incredibly sensitive to stuff like that. The smallest things will give me horrible headaches and/or motion sickness.

I get it, i'm not as affected as you but i still demand a solid 60fps. Let's hope they sort out a new engine for the next installment. It's way over due, i'm suprised they went with gamebyro again.

60FPS is still lacking for me. Hard to go back to that when you've been able to play games at a consistent, smooth 120FPS. Not only does it just seem so much smoother to me when you can obtain that, it actually helps a lot with preventing headaches and motion sickness. But, hey, gotta do what you gotta do sometimes.

Also, when sites started digging into frame timing, that too was like a revelation. "Oh, you mean this average 60fps actually has horribly inconsistent frame timing? No wonder it still looks all stuttery!" Good thing Nvidia and AMD have made huge strides in that area since then.

Dude I am going to build my buddy a gaming machine with this badboy and probably build a media center PC with it as well.

Kids, never get a high refresh rate monitor, it will ruin you. Source: I have one.

Battlefront is really fun. I have huge nostalgia for the original 3 movies and the game is hitting all the right notes for me.

I've bought so many PC games over the years that ran (or looked) like dogshit on PC that I'm happy to support one that runs and looks great on day one (cough, Fallout 4, cough). I'm playing on a 144hz G-Sync monitor at max settings and the game is just a joy to behold. I love it when a developer puts this much effort in to the PC side of things. DICE did a wonderful job on this.

If you can get over the "EA killed my dog" mentality the game is worth a try. Like Steam, Origin now has a return policy. Get it, play it up to the limits of the return policy, then make a decision on whether or not to keep it.

I think i'm getting good enough frame times at 60hz since it seems perfectly smooth. But who knows, haven't really messed with high refresh since CRT. I guess it's the same with 4k. I can't go back to a lower res after that unless i game on my tv and the viewing distance is sufficient. Too bad high refresh and 4k are mutually exclusive for the forseeable future.

I've been watching it on twitch and I will probably play it when I get into the beta to try it out. I've enjoyed playing Heroes of the Storm as my group is starting to get into it.
