I tend to flip-flop each GPU generation, it seems. Nvidia has better drivers and generally less issues running well with most games. AMD seems like their GCN architecture has better staying power with newer games, often due to continuous driver improvements, where as Nvidia's older gen GPUs seem to not age as well.

This time around, it really came down to my monitor. I wanted something with either G-Sync or Freesync, IPS with minimal ghosting/good pixel response times, 1440P, 120Hz+, and at the time, all I could find was an offering with Freesync. G-Sync tends to cost more anyway. AMD it was!

Wallet was jacked by BF. picked up Transformers, MGS5, Bloodborne, Witcher 3, and Arkham Knight for about $100. I think that's more than I can play in a year.

Cycling thru the BF games I got, The Order, Bloodborne, Far Cry 4, and Batman - Order has some great graphics.

So true. The awkwardness of re-learning controls you've forgotten is hilarious. I lost count of how many times I healed by mistake when coming back to Dark Souls after a long break.

That battle system worries me. I genuinely thought the original system was a core part of what made the game so good. Maybe this is just ATB disguised as action or real-time. There are other games already doing this actiony battle system, and I think with games like Bravely Default, there's still a market for a more classic RPG system. We'll see.

I am not thrilled with how much control they're giving Nomura on this project. He strikes me as the epitome of what's wrong with Square Enix over the past several years or more.

Just setting my expectations low as a precaution. ;)

I actually don't understand the backlash over the new mechanics. If people want the original mechanics, then they can play the original game. That's what I do. Final Fantasy 7 is such a good game to me that I can go back and play it every 3-4 years when it becomes semi-fresh again, and I enjoy it equally as good every time.

Massive changes to the battle mechanics (and other mechanics too probably) for the FF7 remake allows for a new experience, not just the same FF7 experience.

In other news; Ni No Kuni 2.

Because I just want new shiny assets layered on top of the old system. And maybe a better translation. :p

I actually feel like I'm one of the few pretty open to all the new FF systems. I just don't want a new FF7 system. Just shiny new things. But not too many belts, zippers, and chains.

This probably stems from all the PC game mods that just make things look and sound better but keep core mechanics. I'm all about that shit.

I'm with @Hands on the FFVII issue. I liked the ATB system. In the trailer above it is difficult to tell how the battle system will work, but it kinda looks like it could be ATB. Either way, being a HUGE Final Fantasy series fan, especially FFVII and FFX I really want this re-make. I wish they would make it for PC. But you know it will be a Sony PS4 Exclusive game -and someone like me can't afford to buy a PS4.

I dislike the Remake, I don't like the visual style of the remake and find them flashy and a bit "unnecessary". It is shame for me this is the trend for FF since XIII.
It also strikingly surprising for me that more western gamers like the visual better than Chinese console gamers, who hate the XIII and being disappointed in FF almost unanimously, given that Chinese player being more exposed to Japanese anime or culture than western players.

As much as I liked the original, I think I would be disappointed if they stuck to the original gameplay style for the remake. So far I'm liking what I'm seeing, though there's not enough footage to judge how exactly the battle system will go down. They probably still pinning it down anyways, I think they've only recently announced that they had gotten the FFXV battle system together. But in the end, there's a 99% chance I'll buy it anyway. The one things I might consider deal breakers are retcons and if they use a completely new score. I'd much rather have them just orchestrate the original one.

Yeah, that worries me a bit. I get what they're saying about it being a huge game, and I remember the original being three discs long, but I'm not sure I'm willing to pay $59.99 x2 or x3. Too early to judge still, but that's discouraging.

EDIT: This actually made me feel a bit better.

Their response sounded more like Jedi hand waving to me than anything else.

Probably should have clarified I'm still going to buy it regardless. They still have a chance to pull it off and make it great.

I need to buy a PS3 and a PS4 it seems to catch back up with all of the awesome games I've missed. I wish PS4 had backwards compatibility with the PS3 so I didn't have to have 3 systems on my stand but oh well.

No, no there really isn't. It's damn close to cheater free, take that from someone who plays at the most cheater infested rank.
