Videogame Discussion Thread

Man, I really need to get back into the mix of things when it comes to gaming. I have never heard of Overwatch or Heroes of the Storm.

Music and audio stuff tore me away from gaming for quite some time.

 

I certainly will. I may even have a contact that can get me a key (a big time game caster currently obsessed with it). But that's just it, one key. Not too interested in playing alone. :/

edit: But one thing that may be a deal breaker to me is the developer... Blizzard...

 

Hrm, I like Blizzard games, generally, but not a fan of FPS.

 

Got into some Beta for a game called Devilian, a MMORPG that focuses on PvP. Seems to be made by the guys who made Rift. Anyone know anything about it? Going to try it out briefly a little later.

 

Any Runescape 07 players?

Now that I look up the benchmarks... https://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare.php?cmp[]=2268&cmp[]=2267 I am slightly annoyed that they now cost 49$. When I got the Celeron the Pentium was like 70$. It seems that the price only just started dropping like a rock last month.

 

My Celeron is locked so I can't OC it sadly.

 

I wish they would release a single-player WoW RPG. Sure it was fun for a few years playing the MMORPG, but it could be frustrating at times when you have to depend on others to achieve certain things. It's all well and good if you get into a good, well-organized guild (which I was lucky enough to be in for about the final year I played), however if you want end-game Gear, boss fights, etc. (if WoW really has such a thing,I guess it would be more accurate to say "End-Expansion") then you really have no choice but to rely on others to achieve such goals, which sometimes isn't easy to do. They have to be as "Geared" and experienced game-wise as yourself, and be dedicated to raid times, instance run times etc.

For me it would be fun to have a WoW-type game that had the same characters, gear etc. but that could be single player and no monthly fee to play.

 

Not sure if I have commented on here yet lol ... Anyway, I play a lot of video games, but only a few hours a week.

Current obsessions for PC: DOTA2 (since the closed beta, and before that, DOTA1), Guild Wars 2 (since closed beta, haven't purchased the HoT expansion yet), Team Fortress 2, and a lot of Sandbox-ish games like Just Cause 2, Shadow of Mordor, and original Crysis and Crysis 2, Serious Sam 3, etc etc.

Unfortunately, my motherboard recently died on me, or at least that's the conclusion after many hours of diagnosis, and I am awaiting the replacement, so no gaming for me on a Surface Pro 3

 

Ever tried the Kingdom of Amalur? Really hits home with "MMO-ish RPG without the MMO aspect". Heck even if it's not really what you have in mind, do try it if you got time, it's a nice action RPG with enough lore and atmosphere (and the always addictive hunt for better gears) to keep the player occupied for a good while.

 

Agreed! Not just because I was a founder at 38 Studios and helped with much of the core lore of Amalur. ;-)

 

You... does that mean that you're responsible for stealing 200hrs+ of my life away? Give it back!
maybe I should start an indie game studio as my next-to-do in life, sounds like a lot of fun.

 

Does that mean the in game audio got the audiophile seal of approval then too? That's a double whammy.

Coming from CSGO it looks like nothing's going to replace this any time soon. When you hear this guy saying Halo and CoD are better MP experiences...
