Matched pairs for my Liquid Glass

Maybe someone has a whole collection they want to offload after selling an amp? Or individual tubes?

    Whatcha got?

I’m actually interested in any of the following models but especially 6922/ECC88 etc

    Noval
    12AU7A/WA
    5814
    5963
    6067
    6189
    6680
    6CC40
    7489
    7730
    E82CC / ECC82
    ECC802

    6N23P

    6CG7 | Especially interested
    6FQ7 | in these
    6GU7 | tubes

    12BH7

    ---------

    6922
    CCA
    CV2492/CV2493
    E88CC / ECC88
    E88CC01
    6DJ8

I've got Telefunken ECC88 tubes in my glass now and loving it, would like a second matched pair.

I don't want anything bass shy or lean sounding, looking for well rounded tubes and good resolution. But I don't mind buying a bunch of tubes from someone with whatever mixed in.

    Cheers!

I would not really shop for tubes by looking for certain constructions or certain labels. these are all artifices devised by an industry of resellers and morons to justify absurd prices for tubes which were manufactured in the millions. I tell you this because I love you.

good resolution comes from old tubes. generally the older the tube the better its resolution. I have yet to hear this not be the case. 6SN7s were made well into the early 40s. 6SN7s from the late 60s barely sound better than some transistors.

in general the 6SN7 is a linear and muscular sounding tube. this is why resellers charge a certain premium for certain labels and year of manufacture which are tonally tilted one way or another. by good bass I assume you mean a fuller low register. you should stick with first-line American manufacturers like RCA, Cunningham, GE, KenRad. ones to shy away from would be National Union, Sylvania, and re-labeled Sylvania's like Philco and Zenith.

eBay is the best place to buy tubes because it's also the cheapest and if anything is wrong with the tube you get all of your money back every time. you just have to know how to look. you can find incredible 6SN7 singles for $15-20 a pop.

No bad boys? 3 hole 2 hole, grey glass, triangle plates, ribbed, melz?

GLWS I am a fan of Raytheon and Sylvania, RCA has been great too in my experience.

    Thanks!

Sorry, it's for my Liquid Glass so I need matched pairs.

    All of the above!

Though I already have Sylvania Bad Boys and RCA gray glass. I just want to try some stuff and ebay is too expensive these days to do that.

Don't forget the legendary 5692, maybe 5693 if you can run 6sl7s too

I have the following 6sn7 tubes,
    1. a pair sylvania 6sn7gtw brown base
    2. a pair cbs 5692

I also have 5 rca 12sn7gt, clear bottle, orignal box.

For the cheap 6sn7 tubes, sylvania 6sn7gta short bottle is cheap(about $30 per pair) and it's good to my ears. Raytheon used to be a cheap tube, but now it's a bit expensive.

I really like the 7n7 pair I got from lowtechelec on Etsy. He usually has reasonably priced matched pairs, though they do require adapters. Electrically the same as 6sn7. He usually has some 12sn7 also.

Mostly agree. If you're lucky, there are amazing things to be found on ebay. I bought 17 1960s 6n3p-e's for around $20. All of the ones I've tested are good, and the earliest ones are as good as any prestige label I've tried.

On the other hand, there's reason to be cautious. There are guys whose job is running tube scams on ebay, and who know how to maintain 100% positive feedback scores. I've bought tubes from a seller like that which were recent screenprints over unusable tubes. The sellers know how the ebay systems work and will make you angry and waste your time. ebay failed for me, but Paypal forced a refund.

Don't pay tens of dollars per tube on ebay unless you're buying from someone known.
