Actually, I am now looking into mouse pads if you have any recommendations. I have a really old one that has a cool copper colored teflon surface, but I feel like I have been getting more friction recently. It gunks up pretty easily and I have to wipe it down pretty often to get that fresh aiming feel. I see cloth pads mentioned as being a good match for high dpi sensors, but was wondering about drag compared to something teflon or plastic. Anyone have suggestions? PS you guys got me so hyped for a nice mouse, that I read to much of the keyboard thread and ended up getting a Logitech G610 with Cherry Browns.

Well, there are many many tastes in mouse mats, and it depends, to an extent, what you play and what you prefer. My main game is still Overwatch, which is a fast team FPS, so I naturally want a humorously gigantic mousemat. Luckily Overwatch now has a couple of decimal places on the mouse calibration, so I can dial in the sensitivity to maximise the precision using the whole pad...

I've mentioned that before, but here's a brief rundown for setting up sensitivity for shooters:

Anyway, for my FPSsing, I use the classic SteelSeries QcK Heavy pad. It's hilariously large, so might involve desk re-organisation, but I found that it massively improved my mediocre aim to "nearly good, sometimes". It's a fabric pad, so I use a lint roller to de-crud it as required. When it looks too manky, I'll just replace it. It was a huge upgrade from my old plastic-covered aluminium Razer Vespula pad (which was fine for years, for MMO raiding/MMO PvP, which is less demanding on aim).

I also am using a slightly too-heavy mouse, so I took all the metal weights out of it completely, to lighten it up. Now it glides about perfectly on that pad.

However, like I say, YMMV. There are lots of very strong preferences in these things!

I got this mouse specifically for Overwatch, so we are aiming (hah) for the same results. I keep seeing a giant (goes under keyboard as well) cloth Corsair pad pop up at Bestbuy for under $20, so maybe I will give it a shot. I doubt we play at the same time or on the same servers, but I am FraGGleR#11797 if you happen to see me.

Instead of doing something like that, I was keen on maximising the mouse area, rather than making my keyboard more boingy. I went to a tenkeyless layout (i.e. without the numeric keypad) mechanical kb. That gives you more room for a huge mouse mat without compromising key pitch. I'm not sure that I'd want my keyboard up on the mat.

The mat I went for is big and heavy, so it doesn't move about- doesn't need the keyboard holding it down. It's ugly and crude, but I now see why all those CS players loved it so much.

However, there are loads of ways to skin that particular cat, just as in audio.. lots of preferences!

Sadly, I don't play on the US servers, sadly- it adds about 100ms to my ping :(

Last week ive been using Logitech's new G Pro and G403.
I think i'll keep the G Pro even tho its a little small for me.
Also got a Infensus OP mousepad, similar to Xtrfy, but I think I like QCK+ more!

When I was taking CS seriously I tried pretty much every mousepad on the market at the time, including the usual suspects Steelseries, Razer, Logitech, Corsair, etc.

In the end I only kept two, with two additional backups of these in storage.

    The first: http://www.pcgamingrace.com/collections/large-gaming-mouse-pads

They come only in large and extended versions, so expect to have some desk real estate available. Other than that they're pretty much no-frills with a great edge stitching and surface that has worked with pretty much all the mice I've tested. Less friction than a QCK, which is my preference since I don't like resistance on pads.

    The second: http://www.puretrak.com/products/puretrak-talent-cloth-gaming-mouse-pad?variant=15749197315

A bit more of a specialist as it is even smoother and has more glide than the above, no edge stitching so it will get frayed eventually but easily washable and has lasted me many years. Also a sucker for the hex patterns they use.

Does the Glorious have less friction than QCK+ or Heavy?
I want a faster pad then QCK+ and Infensus OP.
Got a Zowie GTF-X, but even tho its fast, its like its kinda sticky... So minor adjustment is not good.

Just got in the smallest mousepad (13x11) from Glorious and I like it. Definitely takes up some space, but I already like it better than my teflon pad. Less drag for sure. Reasonably priced and quick shipping. Thanks for the recommendation!

Bought a Razer Chroma Mamba (wired/wireless) because it was on sale ($220 to $160, and only $130 CAD after a coupon I had) a week ago.

Now, I dislike Razer. I think they're generally overpriced, break easily, and the 'cult of Razer' thing that Min tries to push is a bit of a turnoff in my opinion (though I can understand that it is broadly successful from a marketing perspective). But hell I have to admit, this is quite a nice mouse. Credit where credit is due. The stand grips well, the LEDs are glowyglowy and make my inner 8 year old happy, and it has a nice weight to it (though for a $200CAD+ base price, I think it should have customization options for the weight). Battery life is long enough that it's never been an issue for me sofar, and I'm pretty sure I forgot to put it on the charger two days in a row.

Some issues with the software though. Then again, my entire laptop is a mess; I had to hack it to install a fully legitimate copy of windows 10 onto it (first time for everything, I guess), so I can't say whether that's the software in general or just stemming from the many, many driver related issues I'm still sorting out.

After I got the 3 year warranty on it (given my experience, Razer has a habit to break after two) and paid taxes, my total cost was about $160 for the mouse. Pretty satisfied with it overall. Still feels slightly over-priced, I'd love for this thing to be $125 CAD base price, but clearly Razer can still get away with charging more for it.

tl;dr- Razer Chroma Mamba wired/wireless for $130 CAD, 3 year replacement policy for $30 on it, feels good, mouse and the charging stand glow pretty colours, battery lasts long enough that I can use it all day, forget to charge it, and still use it the next day. Option to switch between wired/wireless is also nice if you can't be assed to carry the wireless charging station with you.

Logitech G302 and Coolermaster CM Xornet II owner here. As you can guess from those choices, I use a claw grip. The G302 I use at work as it more comfortable with a relaxed claw/fingertip grip during longer working hours, while the Xornet is pretty cool for gaming, but it's strictly claw only.

Yeah, the Razer software is awful. Wireless mice tend to be heavy (making them too inertial to be accurate) and like to run out of juice at the worst possible problem. I've seen too many 40 man raids wiped by someone running out of maus.

I still have my Razer Lachesis at home as a spare- it's perfectly good if you use it without the awful software (which makes it freeze randomly). However, I wouldn't buy any of the newer ones.

I'm using a Corsair M65 Pro RGB at the moment, with all the weights completely removed- it works OK. It has a really good sensor, and I'm not noticing a whole lot of that famous Corsair button latency. It could be lighter, and I could do without the stupid lights, but at the time, it was one of the few mass-market ways to get a PWM336x sensor.

That said, I'm also currently getting more latency on my external connectivity too, thanks to BT, no longer 12-15ms ping to the Overwatch servers due to them breaking the line and the DLM kicking me into interleaving

I used an MX518 for years until it finally died on me. I replaced it with a Deathadder 2013 which still works BTW. Recently, the Deathadder has been giving me wrist issues with the height of my desk and it's raised mouse buttons. I ordered the Zowie FK2 and Logitech G Pro from Amazon and will be keeping the one I like best. FK2 feels like it was made for my hand. It's so damn comfortable! My only issue with it is the stupid M1 and M2 buttons being hard to press. For FPS I need to be able to depress the mouse button as quickly as possible. Insert Logitech G Pro. Initially I wasn't a fan of the ambidextrous shape as I like a contoured shape. However, I've since gotten used to the shape and am hitting shots that I would normally miss.

If I was just using a mouse for everday computing and light gaming I would choose Zowie FK2 all the way. But I like the slight edge and responsiveness of the G Pro so it's going to stay.

Zowie's sensor is only a 3310. Not regarded as a very good sensor. The stiff clicks are from the shell design, unfortunaly. Well known Zowie "issue". It was much worse before tho!
Logitech G Pro's sensor is the best ever made. Its Logitechs own version of a Pixart 3360. The best sensor in awhile actually.
Hopefully Zowie will release new mice with that sensor soon!

razer pads are horrible i'll give you that but
i have had a the qck heavy its a good pad but pretty mediocre when compared to artisan

try the artisan mouse pads there a bit more expensive, but you will be glad you got them I never get anything else now there super high quality and puts all others pads to shame there made in Japan, but you can easily get them shipped to the US as I have done

    https://www.artisan-jp.com/all_eng.html
personally find the Hayate Otsu with the mid configuration as the best in regards to smoothness and glide but if you want something resembling the qck heavy try their xsoft version

No, they aren't all that horrible, they're just too small for FPS. Ten years of MMO raiding and PvP sort of wore the texture off mine, but I think that still represents decent value.

Yeah, Razer mice made after about 2013 are generally awful, and to be avoided. I still have a Lachesis from before then, that's perfectly usable and decent- as long as you don't install Razer's drivers, which tend to make your mouse freeze periodically, costing you headshots, or as in the past, wiping a raid. Without the drivers, however, it's rock solid.

However, I wouldn't buy one these days. Build quality has fallen off a cliff.

yup and with logitech's new sensor I can't see myself trying anything else since its so ridiculously fluid compared to the others especially easy to feel on 144 hz +
