Hah, got a V60 so literally just watched his vid on technique for that one. I have a thick spout kettle but frankly I'll worry about goosenecks when I have everything else keyed in! Definitely KISS and minor faffery for before I have my coffee thanks :P
Yep gave up on my machine and switched to V60 years ago and the cleaning was a big factor. Seconding @Taverius that grind size is still an issue and also strongly recommending a gooseneck kettle. I like Hario's, but I'm sure there are good cheaper options
Yeah I'm a huge fan of immerse-release brewers. All the ease of use of a french press - add water, pour coffee on top, wait - with the ease of cleaning of simply throwing away a paper filter.
I also love good espresso, but I'm in italy so that's 2 minutes walk down the road, I don't need to grind, measure or clean, AND they have fresh pastry ^.^
My vote goes to the kalita. Less fussy than a Hario since the results are basically the same regardless of how you pour the water. I like the general idea of the clever dripper but I don’t like the idea of hot water sitting in a plastic container.
The Kalita was a close second I think but something about how the V60 looked just worked for me. Never heard of the Clever Dripper but it does look... clever! Hah. Dammit I don't need another rabbit hole.
@Taverius fresh pastries >> coffee unless it's a long day, haha.
As for the two minutes of careful pouring, I actually enjoy that sorta thing for the most part. Greatly calming.
