I was there, it was brilliant:

Edit: Checking the dates, I was there the night before this recording. The original plan was for one Auckland show (Fri 29th) but demand was strong so they added a second (Sat 30th).

For 5 years I lived in Tauranga (New Zealand), which is about 2-3 hours drive SE of Auckland. Now, of course this being NZ, all bands that bother to come this far will play in Auckland, many only in Auckland. I'd drive up straight after work, hopefully manage to find a park, see the show, and get home around 3am usually.

So naturally, sometimes I was tired and not sure if I could actually be bothered. Sigur Ros in 2017 was one of those times. In the end I decided to go, and I'm so glad. Of the international acts I've seen (not that many, to be fair) that's the one I'd tell anyone to go see. Don't care what your music taste usually is, go see Sigur Ros. It was so beautiful.

This is a short recording of Saeglopur from that 2017 show, which of course was their breakout track, or at least it was for gamers back in... whenever that Prince of Persia trailer released, haha. They did finish with Popplagio, too.

Anyway I'm obsessed with this guy at the moment, because it seems any recording of just him with just a guitar is magical

In many ways this was one of my favorite Prince periods. Funky, confident, relaxed, less stagecraft because he knew the music was so damn good. Those years at the end it seemed like he was having so much fun. Miss him.

Ok, one more. Don't know if you've ever heard of TOKiMONSTA. She had a brain condition that forced her to have surgery and she lost some brain functions such as speech and musical ability which she had to relearn. I love her old school sound, it got me through a really rough patch in my life. This performance is from before her surgery. This recording is super lo-fi, so feel free to plop your PortaPro's on and just rock out to some good tune-age.

Live performance of "Attic Lights" by sometimes bandleader of Deerhunter and frontman of Atlas Sound, this band, for Pitchfork.tv's Cemetery Gates series in 2013. Incredibly haunting. Just a bunch an electric acoustic, buncha guitar pedals, samplers, his voice and a harmonica, but it feels orchestral:
