How are you supposed to shower or flush a toilet?

Exactly. Pretty much you don't. Wash with a cloth, chemical or pit toilets, and we have 2x1000l tanks to catch rainwater. We're buying bulk delivery of water from upcountry.... 2000l will get you about a month of flushes with care.

Citizens need to line up at collection points for water. 200 collection points for 5 million people. Do the math...

Wow, that is rough. Life really is out of balance. Many places, like where I live, have a virtually unlimited supply of water, while others have virtually none.

Stay safe. I've had limited water supply, people would go to these water trucks with their buckets. Going spartan isn't fun.

Life in my city can be pretty dry too. A friend was not getting mains water for months: sunk a bore hole in his yard and got a good supply.

For poorer people, it is every-day routine to queue up at the street tap, or waiting for the tanker to come round.

Our place... we have been lucky. Used to get on three days a week, but have a big enough sump to last us two weeks. Never been without.... yet.

Yes, there are plenty of people in Cape Town that have never had running water. This will be a test of humanity, and maybe a uniting force. I hope so.

I'm very sorry to hear of your struggles. I visited Cape Town briefly. A confusing place but I loved my time there.

Makes you realise how fortunate some people are. In NL water management is a big issue. It is something you do not f**k up. In some parts of the world though...
