What genre? I listen to a lot of rock and metal, and they have a pretty thorough selection, even if they do have too many versions of Van Halen albums besides the master series,
In this case it was alternative country but the other day it was progressive rock. I'll read about stuff on Allmusic and then want to listen to it but it seems like Tidal is always missing a lot and normally Spotify will have it.
Tidal has a few gaps in the libraries. Spotify has a better library for most things Rock, Metal and beyond. I am sticking to Tidal though because the good Metal and Prog I will buy anyway. For rarer R&B, Funk and Soul Tidal is great.
I just want to listen to stuff before I buy it these days. I hate having to go to Youtube to listen to an album because Tidal and Spotify both don't have it.
Look for live versions/recordings. If a band does not suck live they are worth the money. If live versions/recordings are unavailable ask friends. In case of doubt keep your money in your wallet.
