Tidal is a little wonky for me lately. It doesn't always open, getting hung up about half the time. I recently noticed that I'm still on Canadian Tidal also. Not sure if that matters.

I'm using an UpTone LPS-1 (super capacitors). Slam is indeed a big improvement, even over the DAC1421 and its internal SMPS! Now I'm kinda torn because the improvements the LPS-1 made to the DAC1321 can't be replicated on the 1421, but quite intoxicating (blackground, slam and bass definition).

@soekris How hard is it to bypass the internal power on the dac1421/dac1541?

I don't believe it's possible to get a better amp at this price. Or twice this price.

I’m moving this week, so I had to pack up my system. The only piece I left up was my Vali 2 w/ a 3.5mm-to-RCA cable. The enjoyment per dollar ratio is unbeatable

Interesting! It looks like a couple of the main differences are the transformer type and how the power supply is connected to the main board. I would probably lean toward Option B with the shielded transformer. Definitely interested to hear your impressions if you pick one up (either one)

I would also vote b due to the transformer - looks more like the transformer in a real 834p!

In this instance, it was an 6SN7 tube, my offer was $1.50 less than he was asking and he just declined it with no counter, message or anything.

I think best offers get enabled by default when selecting the buy it now sale type. At least I remember having to deselect it every time the last time I sold stuff.
