I like the Pro Trek series myself. Compass, solar, altitude, barometer, radio synchronized, waterproof, no battery to change... and it even tells the time.

Amen to that. Come to think of it, back in the day in high school even this felt like a luxury. I changed the wristbands 3 times on my 2004 vanilla G that continues to work flawlessly and is presentable enough to be worn routinely.

The metal G-Shocks are awesome. Thing is I cannot justify buying one right now. Allow for nato-straps and yeah I would pick one up. A G-Shock on a leather nato, that is next level toughness...
