    It is probably only 18ct, and all those speeds, transients, etc will depend entirely on the balance of not-gold metals in the alloy. Colour the metal, colour the sound.

    Which, actually, opens up a whole world of expensive modding involving crucibles of molten gold. It can be done! Even a propane torch will melt small amounts of gold.
