Got an SMS with a FedEx tracking number and I checked it out, destined for my city and they somehow got my contact information. Either this is a weird scam where I don't see how others could stand to rip me off, my memory is genuinely terrible now, or someone (SBAF or elsewhere) might have just sent me shit. Or someone got me a gift, I dunno. Bit scared.

That's kinda weird. Maybe when I lived in the US I'd forget a package, but not here when I know I have customs payments to make and all that crap. I'd be wary too if I were you. I suspect next thing will be a request for a customs payment...

Definitely unnerving. I'm trying to figure out how their asking me for proof of payment might end up being a scam because my cynical side is winning out (I have a few acquaintances in SF but none that I think would send me stuff).

Update: with help from a Friend currently abstaining from the forum (the asshat) I figured out the likely source. Sent them a PM asking whether the tracking number matches, but gah this legitimately stressed me out. Fingers crossed.

Yeah it sounds suspicious...I'd only worry if it doesn't show up and they start asking for info etc., but you sound on top of that.
