Personally I always feel people overstate Deleuze's and understate Guattari's contributions to A Thousand Plateaus. Maybe just because his name comes first on the front cover.

@E_Schaaf , that's hardcore. Foucault was enough for me.

What's the primary advantage of using a Docker image for this as opposed to a desktop client?

OK - if you need/want to run in a terminal-based environment.

I wear dockers sometimes, I think the quality has come down some, but still decent slacks.

I run Deluge on my Synology NAS. I switched to using docker to avoid this exact problem. I didn’t want to deal with weirdness in torrent clients and updates on the nas wiping out all my torrents. Whereas in docker I can punt on that problem. But in this case it didn’t pan out.

In the future I will make sure to turn off all my containers before updating docker and also run a nightly cron job to save the state data of deluge into another folder every night just in case

I love the energy of youth. Docker for your torrents, f'ing epic. @Kunlun I was almost feeling you until I realized you meant Dockers and not Doc Martins.

other than having to do some reading about linking volumes, it was super easy to setup, I just used the linuxserver.io image for deluge. Using not officially supported software on the synology can lead to weird stuff happening, and I’ve mostly avoided all that with this solution lol and almost never even have to think about it

Deluge is also great thanks to its client/daemon system, so I can use the real app on any computer in the house and just use the daemon on the NAS. No dumb webui required

I have a few as well...
Also, any idea how deluge compares to qbittorrent and transmission? I use both of those in docker and haven’t had issues losing the dl state. QBT is a memory hog with a few torrents, and transmission only DLs at about 1/3rd the speed of QBT.

I used qbitorrent for a long time on my desktop. The main reason I went with deluge after trying several was cause it allows you to rename files and folders within torrents from the remote interface. None of the others let me do that in the webui they have

Transmission lets you do that with the remote GUI. I have 970+ torrents seeding with transmission and only use QBT for new downloads. It’s kind of cumbersome. Maybe I’ll give deluge a shot.

also with Deluge you dont have to use a webUI, you can just use the normal app, and connect to the remote daemon, which is also nice
