More taught myself by reading stuff online, but now it all works. Nice sheet that generates graphs from an unknown number of sets of unknown sizes of data.
The whole point of structured education is to learn how to learn. Once you have that figured out you can learn whatever you wish. I'll take a motivated self-taught person over a paper trained sheeple every time.
Yeah, seems like from what I have seen, lots of people just memorize things, and don't really understand the how/why. I don't like doing that, I find it much more satisfying to actually know the why on things, makes it more applicable to other situations.
Excel is really powerful when used at its full potential. Heck, my scientific advisor even managed to create a software that was written only in Excel and costed a lot of money.
