The mixing. At least on this song. They have pushed all the instruments to the front and George’s vocals to the back. It takes away the beauty of the lyrics. I felt like I was straining to hear his vocals. Granted I was listening to it on Amazon Music so there’s a possibility that that’s the issue.
I just checked the dynamic range database. It’s been compressed. Quite a bit. The person posting the measurements commented that the album sounded tinny.
The one to get is the 2010 hi-res remaster (not remix). It’s out of print now but it is lovely and dynamic and the best I’ve ever heard the album sound.
I owned the original vinyl when it was first released. The 2014 remaster just doesn’t sound right. Like a lot of remasters. I wish they would just stop trying to screw around with things that don’t need to be fixed. They got the damn thing right the first time. I’d love to hear the 2012 remaster. Hopefully I can get it someday. It’s a wonderful album that really shows George Harrison‘s talent.
