This is why I usually stay out of political and religious discussions. There are people who can have respectful discussions about these topics, but often times it usually doesn't end well. That said, I don't think those discussions should be off the table around here.

It's an amazing thing to have different opinions because that's how biases and blindsides can be identified and offset, but that seldom goes over well in reality. Bleh.

The P-I blog post is pretty long at this point, with lots of points-of-view and mostly respectful, reasoned discussion.

It's pretty refreshing to be able to find that anywhere these days.

I think the difference here is that people are thoughtful, tend to reason about things, don't expect others to think exactly like them, and don't shit on others for having a differing opinion.

Changstar was a bigger minefield. With age and experience you learn to focus more on what works rather than what sounds good. Without history we will never learn...
