    Depends on the speakers.

Mackie HR624 MK! (not the new crap) powered monitors. They're probably not worthy of either DAC but I love their tone. I need them to be a neutral reference though for tuning orthos, and I was told before that the Bifrost 2 is the more neural DAC. But I just bought Claritas's Yggdrasil so it's hard not to think the much larger Gungnir would sound better for my Mackies.

My two cents, I found the BF2 to be very meh with my nearfield speakers. Almost DS sounding in comparison to the Gungnir Multibit A1. I had swapped to a BF2 as at that point I had moved my whole chain back SE, but found it to be too much of a downgrade in stage, texture, bass, etc compared to the Gungnir Multibit A1 or A2 even.

this is also the same question I've been dealing with. In the end my choice went towards Soekris 2541 vs Gungnir MB and I'm still looking around in the EU

I like Gungnir A1 if you did not need unbalanced out. I think the DAC chip upgrade is worth it.

I just got a Yggdrasil for my headphone rig so can choose between my Bifrost 2 and Gungnir A1 for my speakers. I unfortunately don’t have a great way to A/B them
