    You develop intolerance to crap sound when you listen to good speakers for a while. Headphones in general suck, no matter the price tag. IEMs are different story, these have come a long way.

    But having auditioned even the entry level ATCs, I'm coming to a similar realisation: That headphones can't compete with competent speakers. I'm still more treble sensitive than I once was, though.

    I'm 70, wearing hearing aids, and have lost enough of my treble (HF) hearing that I can't make out words clearly without them.

    But somehow, crap sound sometimes hurts even more than it used to.
