in the back. I've seen drum-recording studios in back gardens, for example. But a *decent* flat with a good-sized garden, that you have to pay for. I *think* I found an ex-council unit in pretty great shape in a good building. However, no back garden. I think I'll have to give up on using, say, my subs in such a place.
After a couple years in Chicago in a warehouse loft, I got really into 2ch and sort of fell out of love with HPs. The last year has been only HPs. Still prefer speakers--big speakers--but they are a lifestyle choice to be sure. Might be able to get away with my Klipsch Forte IIIs though. Decent brick walls and, I assume, similarly thick floors.
Well, had an accepted offer on a flat today. I guess I can make my peace with listening quieter and with HPs. Pretty good chance few flats here would let me get away with lots of noise anyway.
Yeah, it's definitely not the hippest area, but it's close and accessible to quite a bit of nice stuff. And, yes, the Piccadilly line is a five-minute walk. Very handy. Finsbury Park is nice. Parkland Walk. Ally Pally. And a climbing gym I've been going to is a 12-minute bike ride.
I plan to keep bike commuting. In fact, I liked this flat, b/c it has a relatively calm route to work. And storage enough for 2-4 bikes. Been cycling quite a bit lately and want to do some touring and gravel soon. But I really don't like to cycle when it rains, and it does, of course, rain.
So, tube access will be nice. And, of course, there are cross-city trips best done via train. Also, 20 minutes to King's Cross and trains to Brussels, Paris, and beyond. And it's the same line out to Heathrow, too.
