They're all pretty much semi-open, really. No headtime with the D7200 myself but they're all variants of the Foster 443742 build, which is to say they've got massive ports going around the cups that make for poor isolation. For whatever it's worth, they're worse at isolation than they are at controlling sound leak, which makes it great for an office environment and library use (so long as you don't listen at really high volumes)

What at least comparable warm bassy good alternatives are then available?
I could listen shortly to an Audeze LCD-XC in the best shop in town for headphones the other day which I found very pleasing. But this is definitively one of the heaviest cans I ever had on my head.
I had an Audioquest NightOwl for a short time. It had a phantastic fit but an terrible sound. Chopin piano solos for instance sounded far worse than on any of my cheap IEMs. A check in a shop against another new pair confirmed this weird sound coloration.

IMO, the new Dennon leak less than the old Denon and old Fostex.
I had the th600 and had some experience with the th900.
The new Fostex THX00 series also leak less.

It may not be enough tho.
You have to try yourself to see if that is enough for you.
It works for me at night compared to an open.

Firstly, hello, this is my first post since saying hello in the new members thread.

I have enjoyed reading this thread. The Denon D7200 seemed to fly under most radars, at least in England, and doesn't seem to be discussed very much. I think they are really excellent headphones with a sound which I'd describe as quite balanced but with a bit of added low end to give it a slightly more engaging/fun signature whilst avoiding being too coloured. And the build quality is very nice, they were expensive headphones but at least they feel expensive with nicely finished wooden cups and plenty of metal and nice leather/pleather.

The only criticism I have is of the cable. I think it is a good quality cable but is quite stiff and heavy and given how popular the 3.5mm jack is it seems odd to make a pretty easy to drive closed back headphone and then only supply a 1/4" jack. At least Sennheiser include a 1/4" - 3.5mm pig tail with some of their models with avoid using a regular 3.5mm - 1/4" screw on or snap on adapter.

I am really quite mystified why it seemed to get so little attention here in England as I think the combination of excellent sound and build is compelling.
