I probably wasn't going to swap input transformers, but based on what I hear from other 'T Studio' buyers / Yggdrasil owners, swapping transformers is not something that EC is willing to do.

I purchased a Yggdrasil from Schiit last month and am quite pleased with it. However, has anyone compiled a list of alternative DACs that are designed such that they could be used with the 600 Ohm Cinemag input transformer on The Studio?

It's going to take a lot of time to figure it out. It's a function of current, something a lot of DAC manufactures don't publish.

HD800 aside, what other headphones have people tried (that work well) on the Studio?

Also wonder if someone like @ohhgourami has gotten a chance to try with his he6 for comparisons against his Krell, given that I now have a mini-refrigerator of an amp for my he6 as well..

Only HD-650 have the compatability with Studio. No other headphone can use with good result. Senn Heilser.

As @Gray mentioned before, the Monolith also produces Nano-Core trannies. Hope there'll be Tribute Nano-Core vs Monolith Nano-Core...:punk:

I used the Hifiman Edition X with the Studio and it sounded amazing.

T Studio drives the HE1K very well.

So what is the solution for running the Yggdrasil with the Studio? I'm confused by where that conversation left off.

Well, if I've understood correctly, none.

The solution is, you're limited to SE. Period. Some have been offered an 'upgrade' to M-Studio - which I heard will use 15K input transformers. Or, get another DAC.

Marv's been gone on a business trip all week but I would reach out to him directly.

I suppose that isn't the worst solution in the world, given that the amp is SE. Maybe one of those Jensen boxes like Findley's would be a nice compromise.

I was under the impression this was the current solution...

    Emphasis on 'going forward'.

At this point, if you have a T Studio and want the 15K input transformers swapped in, you're SOL.

ug. for you, I am offering up sacrifices to the pagan headphone Amp gods that another solution reveals itself one day.

having realistic expectations about a TOTL amp after such a long wait, to have a borderline-spec issue halt the glee (performance?) of owning such of amp just hurts me.
(hurts even more than camping out on your front lawn for weeks. in the snow. and cold. with no espresso.)

I don't think changing to 15k is good. It's called the Studio. So it's for Pro. About DACs, I'd like to recommend Prism DA2 if you are using CD-transports or 8xr if your source is PC. The DA2 is two steps above the Yggdrasil (sorry, Schiit, you do your best).

@purrin Marv, please consider write a book in the future (with Craig, if possible) on amp-designing. Good books survive in time.

Not sure about the pros and cons of the 15k. Is it just about playing nice with our sources, vs the sources typically used in a recording studio?
