    Yikes! I biologist friend of mine was staying at our place a while ago while attending a workshop at Stanford on various unicellular parasites (he runs one of the main public genomic databases on some of those nasty critters), and he told me a bit about Valley Fever, which was discussed at the meeting. Nasty stuff. Went for a very dusty hike last Sunday, now wondering whether those Coccidioides might have made their way to the Bay Area. Prevalence has been increasing in California, maybe because of the increased drought.
