I wonder if Apple would honor Tidal's higher profits to artists, probably not.

Not really sure why Apple needs Tidal. They're already landing exclusives with big artists and the sound quality on Apple Music is acceptable. What does Tidal give them, access to Prince's catalog and a few other exclusives? Beyonce and Kanye would be good gets I suppose, but no guarantee they stay on if Apple buys the service out.

As a tidal subscriber, I'm not sure how I feel about this.

Don't really care for Apple products myself.

Apple is becoming like Microsoft and Google.

Too much competition, buy out or acquire to rule the market. Not a trend I like...

^^ That trend is accelerating all over the world, from Wall Street banking cartels to the food & drug industry.

Tidal and Apple, hmm... I wonder if Apple would finally bring hi-res audio to Apple Music. Maybe that recent AES study will convince them.

Whilst I'm not in favour of this, IMO consolidation of streaming providers is inevitable in the medium term. I'm just hoping there is enough competition left that helps retain the lossless services that providers like Tidal and Qobuz offer. I wonder what impact this would have on Roon's use of Tidal.....
