Seems that you can, but the power used is more than the power suppliable externally so the battery will run out, just slower

Yeah it just died on me while I was working at my laptop today while charging. I wish it could just run off usb power like the V2.

I finally received my GO2A. I haven't had a chance to listen to it, but the new case is wonderful. It's definitely the product that should have shipped in the first place, but definitely better late than never.

    yup

$1000. Clocks alone are over $100 per unit. The hand matched parts and constructions is expensive as well. Adds a LOT to the COGS.

Turns out it's hard as hell to source really high quality small chassis like this for a reasonable price when your MOQ isn't 100k+. When the V2 project started, if LH Labs had gone with this kind of case with the partners they had access to at the time, the price would have been significantly higher.

Really? That's a pretty good price, if my memory serves me they were $1300 in the original IGG campaign.

@FlySweep and I recently traded our GO units, my 2a for his V2+. So far it sounds great, except in one situation. I have a TRRS->XLR adapter to connector the GO to my Joti. When I use the balanced input and SE out, I hear tons of noise if I turn the knob past 9 o'clock or so. I can hear this noise with IEMs or if I run a full size headphone into the SE out. Balanced out is no problem with my 650 (I can't check the balanced out with my IEMs at the moment because my cable is being worked on). If I plug the same cable into my Pono with balanced playback, I do not get that noise. When I plug my 650 directly into the GO's balanced out, no noise. It's only when using the Joti's SE out that it's an issue.

I have a TRS->RCA cable somewhere, but haven't dug it out to try the SE out of the GO to the Joti yet. And I don't feel like I should have to do that. Is this an issue with the GO? Should I send it in for repair?

I finally received my GO2A last week. The build quality is superb! I gave a quick listen via balanced HE400S and the sound had plenty of plankton and nice bass punch. As @jexby noted the soundstage is further back which gives a nice presentation on jazz recordings. The background is blacker than the GOV2 from what I remember.

Already It is easily worth the upgrade price and long waits!

You are completely wrong. Don't talk out of your ass. The GO2A is a final product. It's gone through huge amounts of testing and iteration before it was launched. I started talking about the revision with Larry when the GOV2 was in prototype form. The page is down because the web team made a mistake.

I have a hard time figuring out (or keeping up with) LHLabs Geek Out product lineup.

Is the Geek Out GO2A the replacement for the Geek Out V2+?

The Geek Out 2a (GO2a) is the upgraded version of the Geek Out V2 (GOV2).

The Geek Out V2+ (GOV2+) has no upgraded version because the upgrades were included.

Is one considered higher in the lineup?

When I compare the specifications portion of the webpage, I don't see a difference.

Edit: Also, I don't see the price for the GO2a.

The GO2a is considered better than the GOV2. The GOV2+ should be on par with the GO2a but is battery powered instead of USB powered.
