Loaner: ZMF Aeolus

I'll let you gentlemen settle it. @Vansen gets to set the rules for the death-match. Winner gets to re-review it.

(You 3 figure it out. I'm stepping out of the conversation now that I've made Vansen's job harder. My work here is done.)

 

Zach said he may be able to hook me up with a loaner pair with the different pads, so I'd rather let @Elnrik be reunited with his baby.

I have mild curiosity, but my ZMF investigations are heading to the closed models - Atticus and Eikon for now. If @famish99 will update with multiple pad comments when (if) he gets hooked up, I say get these home to @Elnrik. Besides, I really don’t want to do the celebrity death match with @famish99.

 

Step 1/2: Ray gets it for a while.

I can't say anything about AF-ZMF pairing (maybe @cskippy or @purr1n can chime in). However, in any cases, highly recommend @Gaspasser to keep participating this loaner program.

Rationale

1. Both Auteur and Aeolus are great imo. Personal tastes hugely matter in deciding which one to go for. Maybe you desire to have both. (yeah, I'd rob both if possible!) haha.
2. Thus, better hearing before making any decisions.
3. Unfortunately it's relatively challenging to find local dealers or local non-sbaf hobby friends who own (demoable) ZMF cans -- particularly more recent Aeolus.

 

Both Auteur and Aeolus are great on Aficionado, regardless of tubes/mods etc. Choose which headphone will better meet your wants/desires.

 

I appreciate the interest in keeping me in the rotation. Af is going to take at least 4-6 weeks and my Yggdrasil is on the way to get A2 upgrade. I joined the loaner because @Elnrik @famish99 and @Vtory all liked Aeolus with BW2. However, I got to hear Af this past weekend and it changed things. I can’t afford to keep more than one amp now and I’m going to stick with HD800SDR as my main HP (for now).

 

Unfortunately, Ray has passed away. This has caused complications for the return of the Aeolus and the 3 earpads Zach lent to try with them.

I've been in contact with his family about their return, but it does not look like that will happen.

I'm writing this off as a loss. Mods, please contact me and close thread.
