In my years of living most people I know who care about Crypto and Bitcoin were mostly on the Autism Spectrum. Autism and 1s/0s monies are a match made in heaven.

Kathie I can give a semi-pass to. I don't have a huge amount invested in ARK(any letter here) personally, but picking the right up-trending stocks in a cycle of major stock price inflation doesn't set off any major alarm bells in my head.

SBF though - first interview I heard with that guy - suspected pretty fast he was full bs and any money I put into his crypto platform would probably disappear sooner or later. "Uh yeah I uh... made my first very large amount of money committing arbitrage by buying crypto in the US and uh.... flying to Japan to sell it where it was much more expensive... because I'm a genius and spotted this weird opportunity... despite the market probably not being big enough at the time for how much money I supposedly made and none of the other details in my story adding up"

Love how he probably won't spend any time in prison though... guess if I'm the 2nd biggest Dem donor, have a "Trump lose" line in my balance sheet, and my parents are compliance lawyers that are well enough connected with the right big wigs in the party... I'm good. Yes, I realize you could probably replace D with R and nothing would change. Also, if I were in qanon, I would say the Dems had him do this on purpose to justify rolling out more regulations or a ban on crypto.

He's going to prison. Fraud is fraud however way one wishes to spin it. Just ask Elizabeth Holmes. It's just that the wheels of justice take a long time. Also, one does not appear to Congress, talk about oversight and risk management, f**k up this bad, and get away with it. Let's not even mention his off the cuff comments about "f'ing regulators".

People thought the Jan 6 idiots would get off with a slap on the wrist. Didn't happen.

I think he will get less time than Holmes because it seems like he's at least smart enough to eventually admit: I got too caught up into it and fucked up. Sorry. My bad.

Holmes is still like: I didn't do anything wrong. I'm only sorry because I couldn't fake it until I maked it. Judge even said she would have gotten less time had she shown remorse.

It's the bullshit exchanges, not crypto per se. The prospect of buying or selling, say a boat, without government having their prying eyes on it, like how they now do on our Paypal accounts, is appealing.

I know someone who bought a boat with bitcoin. Then again, I also know people who paid ransom to a hacker with bitcoin. The latter transaction did not go well.

Yeah, "crypto" not= bitcoin. The rest all have some flaw.

This is true. He made $750 million arbitraging bitcoin. He and others in his circle worked at Jane Street prior to all this for trading strategies. They're kids, but they're smart-in-maths kids.

    Groomer comments in 3, 2, 1.....

But on a serious note if I had kids I wouldn't even buy them these bears for easy to understand reasons.

Errmmm... How can I put this.... Yes! :D
Me too. Especially on the sofa.

But here, in India, where people are so damned sensitive about feet and shoes, I've seen children stood on restaurant tables in shoes that have just been walking in faecal dust (dogs, cows, even humans) on the street outside.

Hey, Children are next to god. Sure: tell my immune system!

OK. Glad I'm not insane. One of my wife's "friends" posted on her instagram a videobite from one of those "conservative" punits saying these ads were pedophilia or teaching little kids sexual bondage.

I don't know how people would or could have such things in their mind.

Balenciaga ended up taking the ads down.

I ended up unfollowing my wife's "friend" on Instagram as she's gotten super weird posting shit about guns, the right to insta-buy them, and crapping on posts of people telling about experiences dealing with racism. People are super weird (or angry). There's a difference between conviction and stupidity.

I look at the bears and it is S&M theme to me, with a child holding it. Personally I think it is not in good taste and if I was a father I would not even close to buy any of those bears for them. Instead I would give my kids books.

Bah. Edward Scissorhands, emo, Madonna. Pretty sure bears are part of the ad and not for sale.

I'd worry more about Rick and Morty or South Park, especially the episodes featuring Mr. Garrison.

The bears are actually hand-held accessories from Balenciaga’s Spring 2023 collection:

However, the fuss isn't just about kids & bears, but also about this:

Why would one use legal documents about child pornography in an advertising campaign?
Only to provoke and attract attention? Maybe. But seems pretty weird, tbo.

I didn't even know what the brand was, looked them up on Wikipedia and got as far as "a high-end luxury fashion house" and immediately stopped reading because I don't care. Maybe I'm stereotyping, but I'm assuming that this is just a stupid "no such thing as bad publicity" grab. If I'm wrong, meh, still don't care.

I can't find the Supreme Court (arguably just as much about free speech - I remember this from 2008) case documents in any the above photos with the kids. It that an "easier egg" somewhere?
