Hi, I'm from the UK. More into home cinema but do like music, predominantly house, old school garage, funky disco etc. Still a raver and like my bass.
I bought an ET3 for CD gapless playback as my CD drives into my Eversolo DMPA6 does not do this.
This is for a second room, fed into a pair of devialet phantom 1's, which are connected optically to the A6.
I have bypassed the A6 and connected the ET3 via optical to the phantoms and they do sound better with CD playback.
I will be comparing direct playback via the ET3 and playback with the ET3 connected via USB to A6 and optical to phantoms.

    Greetings!

Electrical engineering drop-out turned economist here. Originally from the mid-west US, transplanted to New York City for the past two plus decades (and yet I somehow still haven't managed to make it to CanJam NYC...). I've been a music enthusiast since the days when we recorded mix tapes off the radio, and I still miss the serendipity of wandering around record stores. During the pandemic years, a combination of financial stability at last and too much time on my hands led to the inevitable treadmill of gear acquisition, quickly moving from the likes of wall wart-powered Schiit tube hybrid amps to the more exquisite offerings from DNA (and here I am!).

Also interested in astronomy and film photography, so other analog technologies like tube amps feel right at home.

Hello, been lurking for a while and I admit I posted before without doing so here so apologies.
Mainly a speaker lover but enjoy reading about dacs and amps especially and finding others insights into using gear that I stumble upon.
Current setups are a Ragnarok 2 with ELac Carina bs speakers and Drop 58x Hp, trying to decide on a DAC again
Have a lyngdorf 1120 with Carina FS towers for tv and a quad vena 2 with a thorens record player that we inherited and some streaming with it.
Favorite band is The War on Drugs, thanks! I’ll go back to DAC reading now.

I've been a member for a few years, but this is my first post. I'm active on Steve Hoffman, Audiogon, and DIYAudio, all using username jaytor.

I have been an audiophile for about 50 years, and studied electrical engineering in college because of my audio interest. I have spent my career doing digital design (computer graphics and super computers) and software and currently run an ecommerce cycling business.

Since covid, I have been primarily working out of my home office which is at the back of my main listening room, so haven't been doing much headphone listening of late, but have a nice set of Audeze phones in my office at my warehouse.

Over the past 4 years or so, I've become interested in building my own gear. I've now built four speaker systems, four pair of monoblock amps, three stereo amps and two preamps, with several more projects in the works.

I've updated my user profile with a list of gear and some photos of my main listening room.

My systems are all strictly digital. I sold my turntable in the early 90's when my kids were little and I didn't have a good place to set it up, and sold my record collection a few years later. I love finding new music and subscribe to Tidal and Qobuz, using Roon for control.

I listen to a wide range of music, but primarily jazz, folk, indie-rock, classic rock, singer-songwriter, and some classical.

    Hi All,

New here but have been lurking in the background. I don't post often, but I do read a lot and have enjoyed many of the threads here. I love all things audio and play around a bit with car audio too.

Hello all, let me reintroduce myself. I am a lurker who really hasn’t had a lot to say in this strongly opinionated expert crowd.

My name is Sami, I’m a middle aged techie, linux and security nerd. Currently still living in the SF Bay Area.

I have lurked here a lot and learned a lot from all the regulars. Thank you all for helping me learn how to find gear for myself. Turns out I’m perfectly happy in the low end of the cost curve with today’s quality gear. I am not really an analytical listener, gear-wise. Once it’s good enough, it’s good enough for me.

I have an ulterior motive for re-introducing myself. I have some gear to sell because I’m moving and I don’t want to appear scammy.

Is it OK to post stuff to sell as a new member? I have a box o’schiit, some headphones and speakers that I want to get into an appreciative new home, in the SF Bay Area, no shipping. And yes, good deal because I am time constrained. I hope that doesn’t sound too suspicious!

Welcome @ludvigrollover. I'm not an admin but, in the past, having FS posting privileges has involved either sustained, good contributions to the forum or a $20 donation (see here and here). In any case, good luck with the sales.

Hello SBAF, I'm a lifelong "audiophile" currently living in Colorado. I recently fell into the rabbit hole of adding headphones to my regular listening sessions, and now it's all I think about. I'm here to learn and hopefully contribute knowledge in any domain where I can provide value.

    Cheers,
    Matt

Stupid questions aren't necessarily a problem, just please do your own homework/research too.

Asking if a Schiit amp comes in black will annoy LOTS of people quickly.

Read around (especially here: https://www.superbestaudiofriends.org/index.php?threads/what-is-sbaf-10-articles-for-behavior.11637/ ) use the advanced search ( https://cse.google.ca/cse?cx=004591128378908713207:ltjjeypmqz4 ) and you might find your answers before you have to ask them.

Have some fun too...enjoy the madness of the hobby.

Hey all I often drop by for a read but actually forgot I joined in 2020 for some reason thought the forum was closed to new members or something along those lines so never tried logging in lol.

Maybe four years till first post is a record any chance of a trophy ?

Anyhow a few will know me from headfi where I've had the same username as using here JamieMcC since 2013.

Enjoy both headphones and speaker listening.

Looking forward to re engaging with old friends and acquaintances.

    Cheers
    Jamie

    Hey,

My audio journey began with a humble DT-770 back in 2015. I was instantly hooked on what I thought was a revelation in sound. I soon found out there were levels to this game and followed up with a Beyer T1 and an LCD 2 pre-razor. In 2015 these two headphones were widely considered the peak of headphone audio along with the HD800. I then contently retired with my 3 headphones thinking I have reached the summit.

In 2022, I decided it was time to experiment some more and was hooked more than ever. Since then I have tried what must be dozens of various gear and headphones, attended CanJam twice, and yet my trusty LCD 2 is still by my side.

I am a long time member on HeadFi and yet I only recently found out about this site. The few SBAF members that I have dealt with on Headfi were genuine and helpful. Hoping to explore and discover more about the audio world along with you.

Let me introduce myself: 64 years old male that never sold my vinyl LPs., I have been digging into acoustics , DSP room correction and tubes and vinyl for many years, I am an engineer and really like measurements as a tool to understand what goes on in hifi reproduction. I am happy with my set up and room and are not buying new equipment often, but I to like to try different cartridges and judge them both by listening and measuring.
A major part of my hobby is tweaking my turntables and cartridge set up, I must have about 30 different test records …. None of them are perfect… but I am very happy with the sound I have on vinyl AND digital.
Back to transistor amplification now, class A , I also use room acoustics DSP correction, Listeing room is not only for me and acoustic treatment is hard to do with wife acceptance, that is where my Trinnov preamp with Room correction is used.

I kept one small tube power amp I converted to a Headphone amp with a gadget. I have two tube preamps and RIAA I built myself from a kit, but that are not in daily use. Most if my focus these days are on vinyl, since it gives many opportunities for tweaking…

Welcome! From a 72 year-old guy who also never sold his LPs or his modest deck. I used to say that a house without a turntable is not a home. But now it's all in the cupboard and I've gone 100% digital. :(

But I still have the nostalgia. And there a number of active enthusiasts here :D

    Hello!

I'm 36 year old dude from Poland that loves audio.
Recently started to love Schiit Audio - my latest addition is Ragnarok 2.

I love to analyse whole audio chain and lose more time to tinker than listen to music ;)
