@zonto The build seems identical. Through and through. Parts and all. The paint seems inferior or at least looks that way.

@Dino it's depends on which light it's in as to how the color looks. The massdrop picture is quite accurate as is mine. The have a better camera and lighting. On my iPad my pics look darker than on my iMac. Marvs pics look accurate to me as well. My first pics on HF look inaccurate and are more colorful than how they look in person. As Marv mentioned they can look different depending on the lighting.

The first two pics on MD look glossy but that doesn't look right. They are flat looking. But the color tone is spot on except mostly, in my eyes, at home they are a little darker.

I finally modded them last night and have come to the conclusion that my first pair must have been an older version because they sound darker.

Hearing that bass slam is so gratifying that I'd place the quality and viscerality above a lot of headphones that cost more. The difference is not insignificant.

It would be great if @Tyll Hertsens gave the modded 650/6xx some coverage with measurements for more people to see.

@Skyline sorry to hear that... you could keep the page open on your phone all the way up to the purchase option and take a rr break.

Better than me, I have an exam when the drop starts.

But then I'm also on another continent so its good that I probably wont be able to see it, get excited and order (and then burn a bigger hole in my pocket with customs added)

My only main concern when these were announced was if they would have matched drivers like the retail 650's. Massdrop didn't have it mentioned on their page and most just assumed Sennheiser would still match them or they would be good enough. Glad to see the measurements confirm it, I will definitely jump on this drop.

I'm a school teacher but you can bet my students will have some independent work to do when these drop. And I'll definitely have some urgent work I'll need to do at my computer.

I haven't seen a HD6XX in person but I kinda dig the dark navy blue color over the HD650's gray finish. For those of you who had firsthand experience with the HD6XX, does its finish really feel cheap? Or do you think it still has excellent build quality?

I thought it looked cheap in all the photos, but in person it actually looks pretty good, its not as nice as the stock finish but they had to cut costs somewhere.

I spent some time when them and with "real" HD650s at the meet. They seem the same same. The blue is rather subtle. Unless you hit them in just the right light, they look black.

Out of the iPhone, I had to turn the volume up to 100%.

I have no idea who these are marketed to. They are useless for commented as they are open. They aren't efficient enough for phones. They aren't portable. The cable is too short for home use. Anyone who doesn't already know about headphone amps and open headphone will be sorely disappointed.

Contrary to Jude's comment about Beats, you can;t recommend these to people considering Beats for commuting since the HD6xx is open. They don't compete with beats. These just seem like a nice gift to the audiophile community.

I'll probably get a pair in the second run or used from the first run once people can put them through a full batter of tests.

Oh, I predict the drop will take longer than 24 hours to sell out.

Have you been bitten by this? A couple of times, I have ended up PMing people URLs to measurements on here. So far no Currawonging for that, at least.

Still watching that loading circle go on the 'confirm payment' button.

EDIT: According to my transactions I'm in though, and under 500 to boot.

I got through to paypal but then that timed out after I approved. Still shows no transactions in my account.
