I was responding to a specific point made. Someone can easily click on the arrow to get the full text.

    See? I did it again.

Well put. I, too, am at a loss when dealing with people who steadfastly refuse to even entertain the possibility that there is an improvement attributed to things like power cables, audio connects, etc. To my ears, the differences are sometimes very pronounced, so I don't personally understand how it's not simply common knowledge like how it's common knowledge that the Earth is round. Is it that they lack the right wiring? Could it all just be "in my head" -- maybe! But if what's going on in my head can make an amp that I disliked and literally fix it to the point where I listen to it all the time, do I want to lose that phenomena?

Nobody is saying it is wrong if it is all in your head. We're just saying that, based on your 'scientific' explanations, it is EXCLUSIVELY happening in your head.
And it is unreasonable to make recommendations solely based on something which happens only between your ears.

I'll repeat myself : give me one example of an actual type of noise which is not filtered by input transformers (and please, dont say "EMI" because it doesn't mean squat), and we can start to have a discussion.

It's just that right now, you're locked into a one-person shouting match.

I'm unsure of power cables making audible differences myself. I do find it odd how rectifier tubes in the power section of tube amps will impart their own signature on the sound, however. I'd be interested in understanding how this happens...

I don't refuse to entertain possibilities; I refuse to entertain implausibilities.

Believe me, I'm willing to try anything that will substantially improve sound quality, within a reasonable budget. But when someone says that my system is somehow "covering up" changes due to "choke points", it sounds more like a post hoc rationalization than actual phenomena that I need to worry about. My good music sounds good and my better headphones make it sound better.

F/1 noise, EMI (sorry, but the body of experience does seem to show that it means a lot), and high-frequency (HF) noise.

What, exactly, is happening with my Audio Sensibility Testament AC cable that has greatly improved the bass presence and smoothed out the treble peaks from my amp? I don't know, and just assume there are a number of factors at play between my AC delivery, amp internals and noise properties of the cable that have an effect. I know that it's made out of high-purity OCC that has been cryo-treated. I know that it has heavy insulating material, and that it's huge, grips into outlets nicely. I do know that the improvement is very significant, and if it was put into place without my knowledge I would have assumed I was listening to a different amp.

Yet you continue to perpetuate these products and boast about their sonic benefits and wonder why anyone could possibly question your authority on the subject, you do after all own the HE-6 and TH900, you know it all already now. Clearly.

Hah, he's gone full god mode with his marketing. The coconut rocks all over his components video still makes me giggle.

    Also this is somewhat relevant:

    hahahahahahahahaha

    So where does sound occur?
In our minds where our sense of hearing is presented to our conscious awareness.

This is why you can't know what I hear nor can I hear what you hear.
So for you to even try and tell me what and how I hear seems a bit presumptuous to me.

And this doesn't even begin to address the fact that others, and a great number of others at that, also hear these differences.
And conversely some simply CAN'T hear these differences, at all, no matter what.

And your assertion completely misses that fact that a great many of my experiments DON'T produce any results while others produce results that are not 'Better'.

So in your mind if your explanation fits your reality model, as the way of things, that 's perfectly fine, for you and those who believe as you do.
We all learn based upon our chosen life lessons, and as such learn different truths and then in the fullness of time refine, replace, come to grips with the consequences, when our experiences don't match our chosen mental framework.

But to take it to the next level and insist that your truth is universal, especially while employing logical fallacies, is falling into a analytic trap, and as I see it is your choice, but is not one I see as viable, based upon my experiences.

The empirical method is a useful tool, but it must be used 'properly' in order produce truly meaningful results.

Aside from this gigantic, bold, italicized text really hurting my eyes, it has been established countless times that we can VERY easily be tricked by our senses and studies have shown just how unreliable they can be. McGurk effect should be evidence enough for that.

So noise reduces bass presence and introduces treble peaks? Maybe you need ... a different amp?

Keep telling yourself the differences others heard are based on their imagination -- so this behaviour is no imagination at all?

That's the logic you are talking about. Period.

Sorry I was trying to differentiate my responses from the original post.
This forum has certain limitations in being able to answer assertions, without resorting to text manipulation.

I think there's a difference between being aware that it's an illusion while still enjoying it and being absolutely convinced it's real.

Just consider the number of people in the audience of a magic show who genuinely think what is being performed is real magic. Or do you think people who enjoy WWE are not aware that it is staged?

Alright guys, I think both sides of this debate are well represented. This is an old controversy, and there is no sense in periodically going around the wheel on this topic.

Do we need a special forum to discuss cable / interconnects?

Perhaps the use of the terms masking or veiling will make my point clearer.

And as I stated sometimes this veiling is 'invisible', that is until it is removed.
And of course your system sounds just fine, but that could be said at just about any any point in time, but refinements/improvements were made along the way and new degrees of sonic wonderfulness became the new norm.
This is what happens when veils, masks, 'choke points' are removed and suddenly you're hearing your music as if anew.

Sometimes these 'choke points' are major components (dacs amps etc) but that doesn't preclude that other types also exist.
And each system is unique as are it's veils, masks, and 'choke points'.
