I feel the same way. The suspicious mentioning of random audio gear with price tags/retail value is a bit too much.

It had a few anectodal observations, but you can tell that Denby is out of his element. He does reveal a few interesting thoughts, but the MQA comments are hilarious. Also, this is a short read by NYer standards :D

Next Sennheiser marketing idea: hire designer of 2018 World Chess Championship logo to redesign HD700, release as HD7XXS, profit.

It’s cool to see the new cheaper/tweaked releases, but just releasing a 650 with less distortion and some sub bass would go a long way for Sennheiser.

The problem is that I’m enjoying the FM tuner. It’s an old Pioneer and sounds really nice. I’m usually reading, and try to keep a pen/paper nearby, to jot down notes when I can catch them.

I enjoy my FM tuner as well. Taking notes sounds nice. I will often grab my phone and use Shazam (with iPhone you just invoke Siri and say "what song is this?"). It saves the history so I can always go back to it.

Interesting. I've always been a runner, but I got addicted to the spin classes after trying them out. Since it's cold here, I enjoy the virtual ride at the gym on the big screen too. The only thing better would be wearing a VR helmet or something...

I was just shocked he's still around. Apparently he moved to Ontario now(?) The weird thing was that he messaged me on HF in the last 3 months asking for some info re: Gungnir upgrading with Schiit. I helped him out and then today he's flipping out in emails, calling me some crazy rude names. Lol... He's insane.

Oakville is actually kinda nice. The brick and mortar store wasn't bad either. Dude publishes an audio magazine which basically just sells a bunch of ads, but he was fairly knowledgable. The Devialet stuff is for the lulz mostly because of the price. Also, I'd rather just hear real speakers than all of these silly wireless gadgets.

We do have a Bose Soundtouch at home, mostly to tune into CBC radio and catch up on news/current events in the morning, or (kind of) easily stream FLAC from the DLNA. Bose is overpriced as well, but Devialet is hilariously expensive. Explains why my beer was $9...
