that would be good. I have a turntable, but all this stuff is expensive for a one time use type deal.
I don't even know what it all is. When I hear. Fozgometer, I think of the bear guy muppet.

So many useful turntable accessories, but fozgometer would be pretty useful and is universal. Good call

If there's broad enough interest, I'll happily make up a series/progression* of speciality USB cables and headphone cables for people to experiment with. For the headphone cables I'd start with a set for the HD6XX, and then we can see where the interest lies for other terminations (I'm not doing HiFiMan SMC connectors though).

It'll be a little bit before I can do it, since my workshop/lab hasn't been setup at the new place yet, but once that is up it's not a long process.

    --

*For USB this would start with separating the data and power lines, then remove the power line connection and replace with an external PSU feed, up to a fully-active filtered version. For the headphone cables, I'd start with something simple and work up in complexity for the geometry, materials and various treatments.

I would actually really enjoy doing something like this. Especially with a headphone as resolving as the HD6XX it should be easier to tell the differences, if any.

Edited OP and added a check out request form. Bear with us as we get this off the ground since we have the added step at the moment of tracking down some items.

I have the ancient Pico DAC gathering dust here. I can send it to @Marvey and it has a good home.

We've got one offer already from @jmcmasterj, so I'm due to respond to him. @Deep Funk, send me a PM. I'm starting to put everything together.

Not sure how @Marvey feels about members contributing gear for the lending library, so for now I'll just hold the information until he has a chance to chime in.

Okay, consider it SBAF's Pico DAC when you receive it. For a bit of old technology it still sounds good.

    Expect a PM later.

torq I'd love to borrow a fancy usb cable so I can see if it makes a difference before shelling out the cash for a wireworld jizzlight 7 uranium usb
if there's interest I'll contribute my Jay's Audio 5V external LPS, it uses walt jung superregulator inside. could be good for experimenting with usb fixers, raspberry pi type stuff

Where are you in IL? Im in Bartlett and work in Chicago. If you are around this area shoot me a PM and we can work something out on the Jot. I wouldn't mind hearing your KISS modded 650s and compare it to my HD6XX.

I have an extra hd650 balanced cable if you guys would like to include it with hd650m's? Or even with a Jot?

Otherwise it goes to the sale forum on the cheap cheap.

Nothing fancy, but it works just fine.

Happy to send it out this weekend. Just need an address to ship it to. Should I contact Marv? Or is there someone else in charge of this?

Honestly, I'd love to try the HD 650 with a balanced 4Pin cable. I've heard the HD 600 but only SE, the balanced out would finish up my experince with both of the Senn HD 6__ series headphones

Interested in checking the Noble X for sure since Tyll said it could be a problem for people with small ear canals.

AFAIK all Jotunheim's have an XLR headphone out. I don't think they make one that doesn't.

@MattRG - if you go to the Schiit website to the Jotunheim product page, you'll see a drop-down menu for what type of Module you want:

    None
    Balanced DAC
    Passive Phono

Unless the Balanced option only refers to the DAC and not the amp output.
