Weird, I'd suggest contacting support and getting it swapped out. It should work fine on iOS.

Thank you Jason. I am concerned that the IOS and Mac computer issues are not anomalies. I am going to swap it out or may go straight to Bifrost Multibit and take Eitr out of the mix.

Slc66, what cable are you running from the Eitr to your DAC? Is it a 75ohm digital cable?

75ohm. I did try three different ones. No luck.

I am having exact same issue but with iPad Pro 10.5". My iPad sees the Eitr. My Dac (Cambridge 851n) sees a 48khz signal. I'm not sure if that should be. Shouldn't it be 44.1khz? Internal clock of the Eitr issue? Not sure.

And this is my exact same issue. Dac shows 48 kHz and music is streaming from tidal but no sound! I even asked schiit before I purchased if ipad will work with it. They said it will so long as I use the cck cable. I do but still a no go.

Works fine for me. If you're having trouble, make sure you're using an actual Apple CCK, try another cable, and then contact us if it doesn't work. We can troubleshoot further or swap out.

A user from head-fi mentioned that the drivers default to 32bit which the spdif chip can't use. Switching to 44.1 and 24 bit solved the playback issues for them.

Sample rate and bit depth can be changed under Utilities>Audio MIDI settings.

Outstanding. That solved my Eitr Mac computer issue. Thank you.
Now just need to solve my listening to Eitr with CCK (regular and USB3 original Apple product) and IOS device. Schiit has been very responsive and will swap out my Eitr since it should work with IOS devices using CCK.

I sort of take back the problem solved with Eitr and Mac computer. I does work on Tidal as long as I use "system default" in Tidal settings. Once I try to change it to "exclusive" sound goes away until I switch back to "system default." My understand is that "Exclusive" is the way to go?

This was my initial problem with the Eitr using Jriver on the PC. You have to turn off the automatic bitdepth setting for WASAPI and set it to 24 bits manually. Same situation with ASIO.

What cable are you guys recommending for the Etire for Spdif output? or does any 75Ohm cable work

Nvm I just ordered a 8 Foot Monoprice "gold plated" 75ohm 4 foot is too short, 8's to long... but I guess I'll be happy I have it at some point

Welp I went ahead and got one, I'm curious to see what difference it'll make

there we go, picked up a set of his 3 foot RCA interconnects to because why not! Might as well upgrade everything allll at once, at some point or maybe never I might swap into the Jensen XLR converter into RCA's and see if that makes a differance. For now I'm just excited to see how much the Etir + some nice Blue Jean Cables improve my existing rig

Here are some good coaxial options. I buy all my cables from Infinite cables. I am quire frustrated that I just came back from YYZ where I did an Infinite cable run (30 minutes up the highway to Markham) without realizing that the Eitr exists! :-(

Maybe I will wait until the Gen5 becomes self-install. Shipping Gungnir Multibit back from China for service is not an option.

Quick question to whom it may concern:

Is there going to be a self-install for Gen5 USB?

    Found the answer on HF:
For those of you who don't want to send your DAC in for Gen 5, just wait a bit...we'll have them for self-install eventually. We're just trying to make sure we have enough boards for current production and upgrades in the short term.

Yes, it has been mentioned that a self install option, of the new gen-5 USB board, is 'in the works'.
And as far as I know that is the extent of the upgrade.

Monoprice is great. I personally really like blue jeans cables. Cheap, customizable and really well made. Redco has some great customizable cables as well.

Just don't head down the road of cable nervosa.

Mine arrives today, and yea Monoprice cables are well made for the price. Unfortunately all my unused 75 ohm cables are on the very long side too. Then again I plan to give it a try with an unused 6" PYST cable. What???

Per the Eitr manual - 'If you'd like, you can even use a fancy "75 ohm" version, though this doesn't make a huge difference in performance, unless you're using some unshielded, hand-braided thing that's inappropriate for digitial.'

I've been using Monoprice up until now, I figured let's just upgrade to BlueJeanCables alongside of purchasing the Etir! I'm sure I'll upgrade my cables again in the nest 4 years lol
