I just ordered a replacement cable for my HE-500 from Lindsay at Impact Audio Cables: https://www.etsy.com/shop/ImpactAudioCables

I'll let you know what I think after receiving it. Lindsay is great to work with and I've heard nothing but glowing reviews so far.

The stock HD600 cable is very good and easy to reterminate balanced.

    Hi guys,

Just wondering. I currently have a Schiit Stack with Slants and ER4S.

I'm looking to replace the stack with a Geekout V2+. Thoughts?

    Thanks in advance.

I'm currently using a Magni2/Modi2 stack. Should I stick to what I have or look to upgrade something else? Thanks.

you are not upgrading much (except in portability) by going from M2Us to GOV2.

I'd keep the stack unless you need portability.

Alright, I ordered the Geek out V2, my reasoning being : "why wait for the new headphone to benefit from the DAC/Amp ?"

Is this a decent option for the adapter ?

Wondering if anyone has heard the Audio Alchemy DDP1 and compared it to other DACs (Schiit stuff for example).

Anyone have tried the Fidelio L2 for gaming? I see these are going pretty cheaply here ... and looking for a bit less bass than my V-Moda M100. While the M100 are great for portable useage, for normal listening the bass gets a bit much... Another opption could be the NAD HP50.

Hopefully I don't get too beat up for this, but I've got a question about cables. Yeah, I know, I know... Anyways, I have a deposit in on a ZDS and need to pick up some interconnects and am looking at either the Shunyata Cobra (can get a good deal on them) or their Venom series. Do y'all have any experience one way or the other on these? They'll be going between a Deckard and the ZDS (LCD-X cans). I'm eyeballing their power products further down the road too.

I'd read up on Purrin's thread on how to allocate money for your audio chain.

I'd looked over it before, and it's a great post. So, following that model, I should start looking at the DAC again?
*Edit* My thought process on getting some nicer cables is that what I have on hand are basically the free ones you accumulate from random gear purchases over the years.

That was my first instinct. I have only heard the Deckard as an all in one, so didn't get to evaluate it solely as a DAC, but if it didn't impress my mid-fi ears, I can't imagine it being the optimal pairing with an amp that could easily be regarded as end-game. I can't speak with much authority on your gear - I just believe that cables should be one of the last items to use to chase that last couple percent of sound and I am a guy who loves cables :)

I'd planned on the Yggdrasil or maybe that new Mytek (but everything I've read about their previous unit here has given me pause) as the DAC upgrade, and a decent set of cables seemed like an easy box to check before getting to work on the next big investment. Not really at the point of chasing micro improvements via cables yet.

My response was just a knee jerk reaction seeing the price of the cables and really the Deckard feeding the ZDS. I inappropriately made the assumption that the cables could come at the expense of a better DAC. If you are going to go top end to match your ZDS, then I hope you have fun with the cable search! Unfortunately, I have no experience with the Shunyata outside of trying to learn some of their old braids, so I can't help you there.
