Just checked pg-1 to see if it's not allowed to link one's own listing here. Not a word about it, so here goes nothing (sorry if this is not the right thing to do).

For fans of passive preamps, TVCs (transformer volume controllers) play by very different sonic rules than resistor-based designs. TVCs are not the cheapest, but they're easily the best passive sound I ever heard. This is a relatively affordable TVC made by one of the longest tenured designers in the field:

I'm way late, but I messaged him. I'm done paying gigabucks for headphone gear, but $2k for the Austin crew to get their hands on this is worth it. I think the LA crew has had great success modding these into crazy endgame insanity.

Edit: another trusted passenger also messaged the seller hours before I did. So we'll see what happens. Said seller doesn't have feedback on USAM but still likely could be legit.

Looks like I got it. If it doesn't have a great home here I'll offer it to @CEE TEE first because he might just make us a Nitcsh version if he had one. Then to someone special here. We got it in the family anyhow.

Oh, man, I was tempted and messaged him, too. I'm curious how something like this would run the Susvara or LCD-4. But... I already have a Studio Junior (a prototype model), and it can be fussy, and shipping another tube amp across the Atlantic seemed tricky. But, ha, I'm still envious!

    FYI

    THIS IS A SCAM

There are currently 3 SBAF'ers we know of who this seller is emailing with who all think they are getting the amp. And that's just the SBAF'ers we know of, there could be more, and that's also not including inactive SBAF members and all the people who probably emailed this guy who arent' on SBAF.

It doesn't seem like a scam the way he's talking, mostly because he' s offering to thow in this really obscure power conditioner for free with the amp and I can't even ifnd anything about it on google ("Transparent Audio 2566XL Power Isolation"). Which you just wouldn’t logically do if you were planning a scam with an amp you knew would be in high demand. You'd either know you didn't need to add in freebies or you'd choose something that could at least be googled.

This is my guess. He hasn't realiy bought or sold much audio gear and isnt that into audio, he just happened to buy this greaat amp and has had it for long enough for it to become rare and highly sought after. And it was at first an honest sale, but then he got 40 emails the day he put the ad up from people ready to send him money and many of them acting kinda desperate for it. So he suddenliy starts thinking he could sacrifice a USAM account that he doesn't need because he has no other audio gear and isnt part of the scene for taking payments from 20 people and making 40k.

Still, no one should send him money for this amp it's clearly a scam of some sort and you will not receive the amp. And it's not great to rack up refunds with Paypal G&S, they'll eventually start putting holds on you and stuff and consider you "high risk".

It would be good if everyone who got emails from hiim got together and put their desire for the amp aside and shared screenshots of our emails from him and reported hiim to USAM. Miight save a lot of people from losing 2k. I can't organize that right now but maybe somene else involved can.
